Addons

As the title says, I want to talk about addons :)

I played my p2p only in vanilla, where addons were rather rare for the first few months, but after a few good ones (I mean the actually useful ones) got created I became hooked to play with addons. Well, I don't mean the type of addon you get addicted to and unable to play without because they tell you stuff you would never be able to comprehend without them (and I don't mean getting out of the fire xD), but something to change my raid frames, castbars, cooldowns etc. stuff like that, that helps you enhance your gameplay and just looks nicer than the default blizzard one.

Now that 5.1 hit, almost every single addon I use became outdated (I could load them obviously, but this is not what this thread is about) so I began using the standard blizzard UI and I have to say, sure, it's different and I haven't played with it since forever but it does its job.

Now, what I want to know about you is: "What addons do you use?", "How exactly do they enhance your gameplay?", "What made you chose one addon over another one with similar functions?" and "Do you think you could play without addons?"

If you want a list of the addons I use, just tell me, I will post it here (and I use about 15 addons, some are more major ones, some are more minor) :)

Oh, and btw, have a great day in 5.1 and RL :>

my current ui: http://i.imgur.com/U2avj.jpg

addons, ill try to only list the relevant and ones I'm using currently.
Addon Control Panel: allows you to enable/disable addons while ingame without logging out. requires /reload still
Atlasloot: item database
badboy: filters and reports those gold spams and stuff
bagnon: can't live without it. condenses bags into 1 frame.
battleground targets: unitframe for opposing team in a battleground. lets you click and target them.
deadly boss mods: raid warnings, pvp timers. lots of stuff.
ElvUI: pretty much my entire visual ui. very simple to set up. mine is a bit cuztomized to my liking.
gathermate 2 and data: shows gathering nodes on map and minimap
gladiatorlosSA: audibly tells you when cooldowns are used like hammer of bullshit.
gogomount: set your favorite mounts and when you use the keybind it will use a random mount.
GTFO: not as useful in f2p but still amazing. plays a small alarm when you're standing in a fire
LoseControl: larger movable individual icons for cc that are on you, target, focus, etc. like when in a hoj it will show the icon with time in the center of your screen.
mapster: because the default map is shit. just makes the map a scalable movable window as it should be.
Molinari: alt click to disenchant, prospect, etc.
Recount: to show how much better you are than everyone else. http://gyazo.com/f5c7b26409e88ef95cbe8e76fe76f9ef.png
ReforgeLite: reforge calculator for all you p2ps
SaySapped: /says Sapped when you get sapped.
Turn In: let's be honest. no one reads quests. this addon will instantly click through, accept, and turn in all quests and shit when talking to npcs.

Well I didn't open this thread for addon-suggestions, just a general overview about which ppl use which addons and especially WHY

Citation from Fcdruid (lvl 24 bal-druid on EU-horde) after I told him I'm playing 'blank' atm: "I'm guessing 90% of f2ps don't even use addons so no big deal"

And btw, that's a pretty good chunk of addons, some seem almost mandatory for p2ps nowadays afaik (deadly boss mods and stuff) and some even have a good use for us f2ps :)

I use:

OmniCC: This puts small/large texts (customizable) on your spells so you can keep track on them also debuffs and buff.
Comergy: This is a good trackers for Warriors, Hunters, DK, Rogue, Druid - 100 energy class mostly.
Debuff filter: This allows you to see the debuffs and buff you have on you really fun and costumizable.
GladiatorlosSA: This is good for showing you when the enemy applies buff and what they are casting (buffs and debuffs specifiaclly)
Deadly Boss Mods: Helps track Flag focus fire and track AB flag cap time.
Recount: If your a boaster get this it helps, also to keep track of your hit and crit chances to see if you need some more applied...
Bagnon: Standard Must have.
Dottracker: Good for keeping track of your DoTs and when to reapply them for Feral, Rogue, Priest and the most specifically Frost Mage or Lock.
TomTom: Graveyard Tracker

For Boomkin:
Eclipse Bar Plus: Simplifies a Boomkins life

Hope it helped

I use Grid to heal in bgs because when I play arenas, my raid frames are scaled to max size and I don't feel like resizing them every time I go into a bg for fun. Other than that, it's just really interruptbar and omnicc (because I'm too lazy to countdown everything in my head) and Bartender (don't really need it, it's mostly because of the way my Disc and Shadow binds are so different at 90).

All my addons just broke! I just use these few:

f2paddon
bgtargets (after getting used to it I feel naked without it now in BGs)
npcscan (for my 90 alts)
mogit

TBAG .
its better than baggon . try it out and thank me later :D

It's also great on afflocks, because it makes spreading and keeping dots up on the whole enemy team so easy (especially with mouseover macros to click on the nameplates that are missing an icon).

It can also turn the biggest noob tanks into ungodly aggro magnets, because they always know what needs to be focused. If I was ever to write a tanking guide it would start #1 Get Tidy Plates - Threat Plates. #2 Bind a mouseover macro for your taunt.

The one addon I simply cannot live without is TellMeWhen. I use it for cooldowns, HoT and DoT uptimes, missing buffs, debuff stacks, dispellable or spell-stealable spells on targets as well as a 'do not stealth' icon that shows whenever I have anything on me that will destealth me, wasting the stealth cooldown. In fact when I went to play RIFT, I actually made an addon to recreate a lot of what TellMeWhen does, because it made such a huge difference to being able to play a Bard (a class that's all about buffing/debuffing).

BattlegroundTargets - the only addon I'd got really addicted to. Pvping without is kinda annoying - I want to know my enemy.
InterruptBar - since I want to see several chosen interrupt spells on one spot, I am not using Icile. I also like the way its ruining my interface by being an extra actionbar right in the middle of my screen. I never really tried fakecasting without it, which would be very hard, so I guess Im addicted to it, too.

OmniCC + Recount for the lolz and the F2PAddon for the guild chat feeling :)

If I were doing arenas, I would probably load Gladius, too

I try to keep my ui as normal as I can, I really like the simple style of it anybody gets used to after playing for a few minutes. I think Blizzard did a great job designing it and no addon can top this. I really respect those players that are playing blank and still doing a good job in pvp..
