5.1 and How it effects our bracket.

  • Here's a list of all of the patch notes for 5.1 that pertain to us specifically, and how they effect OUR bracket.
    If I've missed anything let me know so I can update it.


    UI (Increased Situational Awareness for some players)
    Justice, Valor, Honor and Conquest Point quartermasters are now signified by new minimap icons.

    A new banner will appear when a player is subjected to an effect that causes them to lose control of their character. The effect that caused the loss of control and remaining duration will be displayed. Configuration options are available in the “Combat” section of the “Interface Options" menu
    .

    Professions
    All mineral nodes will now despawn one minute after they are mined, even if items remain in them.

    General (Disarm Nerf)
    The durations of all disarm effects have been reduced to 8 seconds.

    The Weakened Blows effect has a new icon.


    Classes (Rogue DPS Buff?)
    The responsiveness of many abilities and effects has been improved, including: Renewing Mist, Halo, Rogue Poisons, Revealing Strike, Rime, Killing Machine, Maelstrom Weapon, Sudden Doom, Ultimatum, Scent of Blood, Crimson Scourge, and Sudden Death.


    Hunters (Massive Survivability buff)
    Careful Aim now increases the critical strike chance of Steady Shot and Aimed Shot by 75% on targets who are above 80% health, down from 90%.

    Steady Shot, Cobra Shot, and Barrage can now always be cast on the move.


    Mages (Utility Buff)
    Blazing Speed may now be triggered after recieving damage in any amount.


    Monks (DPS/Utility Buff)
    The Tiger Power provided by Tiger Palm now reduces target armor by 30% with a single application and no longer stacks.

    Stance of the Fierce Tiger now increases the Monk's movement speed by 10% in addition to its other effects. This movement speed increase stacks with other effects.


    Priests (Utility/Survivability Nerf)
    Psyfiend's Psychic Terror cast time has been increased to 2 seconds, up from 1.5 seconds.

    The Psyfiend's health has been reduced to 10% of the controlling Priest's health, down from 30%.

    The cooldown on Dominate Mind has been removed (Marzrider, have to verify when Blizzard reposts the 5.1 patch notes blog)


    Rogues (Utility Buff)
    The energy cost of Kick has been reduced to 10 (was 15).

    Enhanced Poisons? (See "Classes")


    Warlocks ("DPS Nerf" if you could call it that)
    Removed the ranged Melee attack from Demonology Warlocks in Metamorphosis form, and increased the damage of Doom by 25% to compensate.


    Warriors (PVE DPS Nerf)
    Execute damage with high amounts of Vengeance is now capped at the Warrior's maximum health to prevent it from reaching excessive numbers.


    Shamans (PVE/PVP Survivability/DPS Nerf)
    All totems are now considered spells, and summoning totems can be prevented by silencing effects. Searing Totem, Magma Totem, and Fire Elemental totems fall into the Fire school, while all other totems fall under the Nature school.

    I'm so fucking pissed at blizzard, but then again i'm all was pissed at blizz...anyways i think the whole idea of totems getting called as spells are just plan stupid.

    It makes oodles of sense.

    It's a huge nerf, especially at end game, but it does make sense.
     
    I'll agree that you should still be able to drop totems while blanketed. But if you get locked... there should be consequences.

    But Blizzard likes doing surgery with a chainsaw, so take what you can get I guess.
     
    Adjusted the crazy formatting, I was half awake when I did this, earlier this morning. Added the Dominate Mind change for priests I'll verify it when Blizzard reposts the blog with the changes, it's gone for some reason.

    On Topic~

    I'm disappointed about the lack of Warrior/Paladin Changes. My Arms/Ret are shelved for what looks like most of this expansion.

    No mention of NO CD on dominate mind.

    I'm satisfied with the Priest/Shaman changes. Priests can no longer completely reset 4v1 fights and Shamans actually have to worry about being silenced now. A good resto Shaman in the current scheme of things won't die. Avenger's Shield/Wind Shear/Kick all you want he/she's just going to pop a shambubble.

    It's just utility nerfs. Nothing wrong with making healers have to think in order to faceroll.

    That's just my opinion though.

    Agree completely, looking forward to having to watch for silences! Resto will be even more fun. :)

    yo when is 5.1 supposed to be released and will they change the caster 4 stam trink to have 10 hit instead 10 spell pen ?!

    Personally, the ability to instant cast/drop totems is handy, I think it goes without saying. Just before a pala stun/priest fear can mean life or death when in the mix (casting the bubble totem talent -forgot the name). It wouldn't be too bad a nerf in 1v1 or 2v1 situations, but more than one paladin or even a BM hunter who can skillfully use stuns will make it tough. As a Dran sham, the bubble is handy against shadow priest burst, with the added racial resistance to shadow damage. Does anyone have any idea the cast-times of totems, just something else to fake cast.
    Oh and I wish cleanse removed poisons.
     
    Pretty sure totems are still going to be instant. The lockout would have to happen while you cast a spell, preventing you from dropping totems. So if you get locked out of Nature when casting Healing Wave/Surge or Lightning Bolt, Stone Bulwark Totem would be locked out too.

    I just realized that this wouldn't even change much for me most of the time since I like running with Astral Shift. >_<
