Fair enough?

  • I began playing WoW way long ago. It's going to be about 7 years now since I began and I have ever since been addicted. I could say that if it weren't for one thing in WoW, I wouldn't still be playing this game today. That one thing was: level 19 twinks.
When I first started playing as a trial, I thought the idea of twinks was so cool. However stupid this may sound, I enjoyed getting bashed by other twinks, but found it incredibly fun to fight alongside other 19 twinks. Back then, 19 twinks actually meant something. You actually needed to due the complete impossible in order to be a truly BiS twink. Which included trying to gear up while avoided leveling past the level nineteen and getting the best enchants possible.
I would play the game solely on trials. I wasn't at the working age to purchase the actual game but I always imagined creating my own twink some day.
When I finally began paying for the game, it was early Wotlk and that was basically the downfall of twinks forever.
The creation of heirlooms made gearing up quick and took out the fun. Enchants were restricted as well which removed a lot of damage that a possible twink could do. And probably the greatest change: the fact that we now get experience while in a battleground forces a twink into an xp off battleground.
I never did make a 19 twink because it just lost everything that made me love it over the years. When F2p happened though, it helped me get half of what I wanted. The need to gear up to get BiS was there and the fact that we had to level our own professions to get our enchants was very appealing. I was very content overall and I find f2p to be amazingly fun, but I still feel like I want that experience that others had.
Now that I have given a brief background on my experience, I was hoping for some advice.

I'm currently paying to play so I haven't been playing my f2ps, but I was thinking on creating a p2p that I could create in the same way 19s were created. That is, gear him the best I can with no heirlooms provided, basic enchants, and try to get things as a lower level which wouldn't be immediately available.
But creating a P2P at level 20 with F2p restrictions makes no sense. I might as well make another f2p.
A 24 twink is just complete shit. I'd rather not become one of them.
So where would I land? I was thinking going half way.

I'm in the process of creating a level 22 twink rogue. I have access to all the heirlooms I would need, but I refuse to use them. Not only would it not grant the experience I want, but it wouldn't be fun to 3 shot things. Too boring.
By creating a 22 twink, I limit myself and but still create a fair match against the opposing team, while still greatly benefiting my team.
    As a level 22 twink, I:
    • Am able to be hit, seeing as being Hit capped gives you enough to hit things of at least level 23.
    • Am not as overpowered with abilities because most abilities aren't granted till level 24.
    • Do not use heirlooms, but will try to become as BiS as possible to increase my damage output.

What does everyone think about this? I please ask for everyone to not be so negative and at least helpful with positive input.

    tl;dr
I'm creating a 22 twink to fulfill my superstar dreams of being a superstar twink. Watcha think?

I dont think they had trials back in 2005?(if 7 years ago)
Unless ofc you had the 10 day game card with the CD key were you could redeem it, which would usually come if you purchased blizzard products(e.g starcraft or diablo 2)

I think,at least ,assume(but,i hate assuming), what trials came out in 2008, i believe when wotlk hit b/c i remember the "try world of warcraft 10 days for free)...i guess they had a lot of competition since CoD WaW was coming out next month(/shrug i remember zombies),so they had to pull customers out of xbox live LIKE ME)

Also, how could one not have money?I remember, at least, doing so many things when i was young..e.g selling virtual goods(o_O my whole d2 account, i remember bartering with controllers(i bought a xbox controller for like 10$ from one friend and sold it to other one for 20$, etc), i remember selling candy in school for a higher price...damn ,what a young entrepreneur i was back in 2004.....barely managed to get 100$ just in time to buy halo 2 and WoW when they came out....what a lucky son of a gun i was....

Better than complete shit. Look forward to seeing how it works out.

Thanks. I'll try and keep up to date and post my armory up once I feel that my twink is ready.

They did actually. I began playing when I bought a 14 day trial to try out. Then I noticed they had 10 day trials on the actual site, so I played that. The, I guess embarrassing part of it, was that I would make a new email account every 10 days to restart a new trial and leveling process again in order to play again.
And well I was 11 when I started playing. I hated being 12 and playing as a night elf because there was also that sterotype "Yoor juzt a 12 yr old nelf hunter noob"... lol.

I knew I was going to get people like you on this thread. Thanks anyway for your "positive" input.

    Are you using P2P chants?

No, as I mentioned, just "basic" enchants i.e. things available to a lower level. Nothing OP except I was thinking of going with Life Stealing since it was something twink rogues would use back in the day. Not game breaking.

Do what you like. You'll probably get more shit for it than a 24 would, tbh.

There's still plenty of advantages a full account 20 using f2p enchants has. For example, you have unlimited access to all the consumables a f2p has to farm for, even limiting yourself to consumables f2p's can get, plus lvl 20 p2p's on the right servers are great for doing arenas.

The *vocal* community here is the minority.

Very seldom do people mention anything about P2P, 'chants or otherwise in games. There is no *shit* to be had.

I guess if you made a 24 on AP and wanted to do arenas you may hear something. But really...

Keefqueef is a 24 druid on AP, and most F2Ps like him.

I was thinking about this the other day. I'm curious to see what a 22 would be like compared to a 24.

I say go for it, but, USE THE LOOMS! We all do as F2P, you should too. Unless you like questing and grinding or already have some nice BoE blues banked. I play WoW for PVP. Being able to set up a F2P 20 with competitive gear and be done is awesome. No expansion leveling, no new iLvl gear grinds, no new ladder season. Just log in when I can and play.
