Rogue Race; Alliance.

  • For nostalgia's sake, I'm thinking of rolling a 19 rogue on Korgath; Alliance. Really drawn between NE, Worgen and Panda. The loss of gouge makes Panda seem desirable for the incapacitate. Same goes for Worgen with Darkflight. NE for obvious reasons. I feel like they all bring a pretty equal utility to the table, though, I'm not particularly sure how the play style is at 19 in contrast to 20. At 20 I wait for the circle-jerk of healers turtling to hit 10 stacks, then pop a 2.5k evis with shadow focus. I'm assuming things are different in this bracket, though I haven't done a 19 BG since early cata. Also, not going to shell out the cash for a fang atm, so I'd like to know if McGowan or Dal'rends would be better in the MH. Not really relevant, but here's my 20 rogue. No crippling at 19, so it's pretty much moving with other rogues and hoping the EFC can't kite or that you have someone to keep him slowed. That's how I've seen most rogues play, anyways...

Oh, my bad. That seriously changes everything. Is anyone playing Panda yet? Don't make me get out of that zone and test it for myself. /wrists. I feel like the lack of crip gives Worgen a slight edge, but I haven't played in a bracket without mounts in over a year.

The lack of mobility makes worgen the superior race of the three (imo). The crit is also very nice considering we benefit from it more now that Ambush is no longer 100% crit chance.

With Hemo and Deadly Poison, Quaking Palm becomes situational (let's not forget the DoT spamming Balance druids either). It's a decent race but it's not as useful as you will imagine in your head. On a side note, QP can be dodged.

Night Elf...well I am one myself. The increased stealth speed is nice and so is Shadowmeld (for avoiding spells/CC and restealths) but to make bigger plays you'll need the assistance of offensive racials such as those of the worgen or pandaren. I'd say NE is more for a defensive, sneaky playstyle.

Dal'rend's would probably be better for MH but it's an argument of 1 crit vs. 2 haste so it really doesn't matter.

Notable things that 19 rogues should keep in practice for effective gameplay:

    - Effective use of [focus] kick and sap
    - Good positioning and predicting where your opponent will move next
    - Smart timing on ambushes and 5 pt. eviscerates
    - Good enough movement and ability to keep ToT (if the situation allows if of course)
    - Awareness and smart restealthing

Most rogues who want to do the best they can in WSG will go for Nightstalker over the other two talents because we lack mobility and the extra stealth speed outweigh the other 2 talents by far.

Thanks Sneaky ^-^ I guess I'll go NE to avoid the dreadful starting zones for worgen/pandas. If I find myself devoted enough, I'll just race change to worgen eventually. I've already got my mcgowans enchanted with agi, but my dal'rends has crusader (don't ask :p). There wouldn't be any downside to putting the weapon chain on Dal'rend's MH, so I don't have to overwrite my current chants, right? And, cobrahns VS. Lynx? I play Cobrahn's at 20 because the crit is more valuable with the lack of enchants... Not sure how it applies here, though. Don't want to sound like I'm just asking questions that I could have read in guides (not reading Curley's), I'd rather hear multiple opinions, and then try both out when I get geared. Looking forward to gulching with players above the average skill level of the F2P bracket. I'm getting a little sick of reading "EFC IS ABOVE TUNNEL I CAN'T HIT HIM".

Thank you for the intelligent comment. Could you offer any insight, or statistical reasoning from which you derived your best in slot gear selections? Thanks!
Well crit is our best stat. I dont sacrifice agiliy for a minimal amount of crit such as using cobrahan's boots. Feet of the lynx is better. Also foremans are bis because 5 exp > 1 agility. Always gear towards burst stam isnt a issue if geared up. Also gloomshroud and my shoulders is a trade of ablut 2 crit for 3 topend which is great tradeoff de to no 100 percent ambush crit. Lastly, pyrium is bis because you want to get as many hits in on a target with little tot. While using pwc ur avg hemo drops 1 dmg and ambush by about 20 but it gurantees white hits which means
more deadly procs which is about 50 percent of dmg alone on sustained targets. Using slice and dice with pwc is best damage u will put out on a sustained target such as efc with stacks or a mid fight. Have any questions
    ask. ;)

Wouldn't BoA legs be significantly better than smelting?
4 haste is .1 energy regen and .06 off weapon. With little tot that will not help. Smelting provides 2 more topend and .3 more crit if in sub spec. As i said earlier, gear towards damage and burst over stam. I'm rocking 1700 hp + with rum I don't need any more.

gnome would also be worth it for the Iron Grenade - Item - World of Warcraft.

kick is on a long cd, and our mobility is lacking which makes focus kicks even trickier. bombs are a really nice interrupt to have on offense.

2 obvious problems with that, though it is a decent idea.
    1. Bombs are on a 1 min cd and not to mention are not that easy to line up on a moving target, and break on the new hemo dots rogues have gained, whereas gouge didn't have that problem.
    2. You're a gnome, ew.

Viable if you're tossing it at a healer who you aren't DPSing, but more situational than the other races imo.

you shouldn't be dotting up your focus target anyways. bomb's aren't hard to drop on a casting target.

I already went NE, for the time being. I'll see how involved I get, and race change if I want to try something else. Also, I see sub is wearing the BoA cloak, and isn't using a wep chain...

Lol, do not make assumptions about people based on such frivolous things.

yeah 'm always wearing some kind of sketchy gear when i log out.

honestly you're a smart player, i'd just pick up all the gear i could and make you're own decision based on play style.
