MoP: Prot Warrior Weapons?

So, again the question arises - a dagger to increase the rage or other weapons for DPS?

Shield slam gives you 20 rage and is a good source of consistent dmg plus the prot spec in combat bonus - I would focus on dps (read decent top end). If you are hit deprived the lvl 20 quest item is ok. Otherwise I would take the Protector's sword until you can get Skullforged.

Speed 2.70 vs 2.20
DPS 15.2 vs 16.3

DPS ≠ top-end dmg

DPS=Damage per Second (duh)
top-end dmg=the maximum dmg you can put out with something

So basically, with higher dps you do more steady damage in a longer fight but with higher top-end dmg your skills and weapon swings can put out higher numbers than a weapon with higher DPS - I always go for top-end dmg > DPS but that's personal preference

To answer the original question: Protector's Sword till you get the BoA, or (if you can get your hands on one) Diamond Hammer till you get the BoA

28-54 damage, 25-47. He is talking about the 54 and the 47.

54-47=7
7/54=0.1296
0.1296*100=12.96%
round to the nearest significant figure and its 13%.

Protectors Sword has the potential to hit 13% harder.

Here is da math - you based it on the wrong sword V ;o) we are showing the increase on the lower one compared to the higher one - meaning we are saying the prot sword has % more top end dmg then the talwar.

so
54-47 = 7
7/47 = .1489 * 100 = 14.89 or let's call it 15%.

Additionally - almost any time you have instant attacks (meaning no wpn speed on heroic strike) you want a higher top end dmg.

We can spam heroic strike in rotation w/ the free shield slam and free thunderclap as prot. Just need to hover around the 30 rage mark when you know someone is close to dying otherwise spam. It's not like the old days when execute was based on available rage.
