Questions from a old schooler thinking of return to twinking in MoP

  • I am thinking about picking up WoW again just to play my twinks.

I stopped playing the game shortly after wotlk came out and haven't done any serious twinking since around 2007.
I did attempt to get back into the game in may of this year, how ever the main thing that turned me away was that I don't really have any interest in other parts of the game, apart from twinking.
The new BoA's were one of the main problems that turned me away (appart from 19 hunters being way to OP lol). It has/had become necessary to be in a guild that was a high lvl and grind rep with them in order to get some of the BoA's. I no longer know anyone who plays WoW and due to my lack of interest in end game content, both finding a guild and obtaining rep with them was a little tricky. I spent a good part of a month doing dailies trying to get rep with a guild I randomly joined from them spamming in trade, but didn't even get out of friendly rep and so quickly lost interest.
I'm happy to run the same instance over and over just for one item for a twink, how ever I find myself unable to grind rep on my main for the same reason  not sure why this is...
I'm not saying it is necessary to have the BoA items obtained this way to have a decent twink, how ever I do aim to get BiS when I do gear up. And since (for the most part) the Lucky Fishing Hat has been replaced by BoA hats for BiS I couldn't over look this issue, especially since there are going to be BoA pants in MoP (I think?) that will be obtained the same way.

I know my twinks will require gear upgrades from both Cata and MoP, so I guess my question for you all is will that require more then my current lvl 80 mains who are guildless, badly geared and as far as I know don't have any dungeon/raid currency saved up? As I would be wanting to gear my twinks as close to BiS as possible.
    Thanks~

Currently it is easy to get the guild rep you need on the any low level character, by just doing starting area quests. You will shortly be exalted and can purchase whatever guild BoAs you need.

You can also buy BoA's from new Darkmoon Faire vendor.

Might that include both the Helm and Pants though? =D
If so, how long are we talking before you would have enough vouchers to then buy one or the other from the vendor?

They cost gold, not alternate currency. It is the other BoA's that cost honor/JP.

He speaks the truth, my Panda Monk that is a little over 1 day old is almost exhalted already. This rep allows you to purchase BoA Helm and Cloaks with gold. Depending on the guild, honored rep will soon allow you to purchase BoA pants with gold as well. I doubt many guilds have unlocked the cheive to get pants yet though, but most will real soon.

You only need honored to purchase guild BOAs. It took me 30 minutes /played questing from 1-7 on a human warrior w/ tabard
More specifically, 23 quest completions at 400 rep each.
(even quests like go talk to this guy 10 feet away from me for 10 exp)

I'm glad you brought this up Angely... I am in the exact same boat as you. I quit playing WoW 4 months before Cata came out. A lot of things I don't miss about it, but the one thing that I always LOVED was twinking. (specifically 19's although I did run 29's, 39's, and 49's to some degree)

I would like to add a question as I am still debating whether to return or not also:
Do people still wall jump up the cliffs of WSG?... I only ask because that was one of the things that made me decide to leave twinking. I was able to do all the jumps just fine, but I generally refused to do it.

Angely (or anyone else), if you have returned to WoW for the twinking since this post started, would you mind letting us know your thoughts? I would be interested to hear if you think that it is worth returning.

Also.. side note: does anyone know if any old members of "Short Bus Riders" or "Skill Brings Respect" from Icecrown still run? (yes it has been that long since I've twinked)

Most of the terrain jumps are still doable and the people that know how to perform them, use them. But if you're talking about actual wall jumping (getting out of the map with the flag, for example), well that was taken out of the game. So, most terrain jumps are doable by all races, and there are no jumps which would lead you to a place people couldn't get into.
