    • facts about 85 twinking:

    1, some of the best items at 85 are from dragon soul (still true even in MoP). in a couple of months, you can do 10-man heroic dragon soul with the help of, i don't know, maybe 3~4, decked out level 90's. the good thing about DS is that 10-man heroic apparently offers the exact same rewards as 25-man heroic. so running 10-man DS in MoP will actually be a lot easier than running SWP in wrath or Cata, think about the original ZA.

    2, MoP offers tons of items that can fill whatever slots that DS loots don't cover. for example, all you need to do is kill a rare elite to get a weapon that is way better than DS equivalent. furthermore, unlike those crazy BoE's that you get at 80, items like this actually make sense and are likely to stay.

    3, you should be able to carry a 70 friend through BT in a reasonable amount of time as an 85 twink. even SWP should require no more than 2 level 85 twinks.
     
    should i lvl my 80 dk to 85 or should i just keep my dk at 80 and twink a warr pala or rogue at 85?

    Head boss is still a major PITA. Swp is all doable apart from the first boss, which requires two people.

    I think it's a bit too early to talk about 85 twinking while there are still tons of mains/alts around that are in full BiS and still 85.

    i wouldn't say it's too early...if you decide to twink at 85, you don't need to buy MoP.

    first get all your gears. once you are fully twinked and have lots of gold, try MoP for 10 days and do all the rest, like professions, in those 10 days.
     
    here is a list of items added in MoP that 85 twinks might find interesting.

    note, the list is not mistake-free!

    edit: posting this here so i know what items i will need to grind for when i start twinking my 85 paladin.

    for those that don't know 85's in CATA where in there own bracket

    85's are in 85-89 bracket now, as of now there the MOP 80-84 blues better than 85 gear from CATA. 85's will only face 85's in arenas, most likely

    yes some items from DS may still be BIS from DS.....if you stay 85, but gear that a 89 will have will trounce it

    80-84 and 85-89 are nothing like 70-74 in gearing and glance u know that. 84's and 89's have a huge advantage due to gear. prior to MOP there was talk of 84's in full CATA gear in the 80-84 bracket, it will be similiar when it comes to 89's in 85-89 bracket

    the gear gap between 89's and 85's is actually quite small.
     
    pve set is way easier to build than pvp set. you don't need to focus on resilience so just equip whatever the highest level item you can find on wowhead.

    the difference is actually quite small if you take rating scaling into consideration.

    the only thing that worries me here is 89's base health, not the gear gap.
     
    85 twinks with BS and LW like this will have around 230k health + 70% resil reduction.

    pretty OP if you ask me.

    For those that dont know,, 85 twinks would be in full cata gear with 2 piece set bonus from heroic ds and trinket. However, cata pvp gear is not obtainable anymore. So unless your willing to buy someones old 85 or you have one lying around. truly twinking at 85 inst possible
     
    The first thing I heard from (someone, can't remember who) when I told him/them/they I was leveling my mage to 85 was that we would get rolled over by the people in full Cataclysmic gear because it wasn't available to us or something along those lines.
