I heard my friends friend found a different way to do it, I even saw his friends armory which said that the socketed item had been aqcuired 5 days ago. This isn't long ago, so yes, as far as I know, it's still possible. About the actual procedure I have no idea about, though.

There's a new way to do it that hasn't leaked fully yet.

This is the easiest exploit to fix. Simply have the slot require an appropriate level of BS. No idea why Blizz insist on trying to be so fancy with it.
