Mage Questions

Khaos

Dare to be Optimistic
  • So, I really like playing my shaman, but I wanna play around with a offensive class. Now Im not one to play classes that are OP (I rolled my shaman in Cata for the reason that it took skill to play) Well after much pondering I decided i would rock a Mage. But I got a few questions

What is Hit cap for spell casters?

For Offensive Mage, Spec? Im leaning towards Frost for all the CC abilities not to mention when i get those Frost Bolt stacks feels like im hitting pretty hard (thats on mobs i know resil will change that)

    Weapon Enchants, Intel or SP

Bracer Enchant Stam or SP or even Intel?

Boot enchant Im going to say Minor speed? or does it seem pointless and just run 7 stam/5 hit

i know these are all noob questions but well when it comes to mage Im pretty noobish

If pugging, recommend +9 sta - bracer and minor speed - boots

    11 is hit cap

not much offensive about frost, other than the CC. Your damage is really weak (but it is in all three specs).

I'm currently rolling with 22 int, not sure tbh what's best to be honest.

As CC-frost I'd say 9 stam is better than 15 SP.

Having 5 hit should only be needed if you lack hit obviously. I roll with 7 stam on my boots and have a pair with minor speed I swap for whenever I'm being chased/chasing someone.

    /use [@focus] frostbolt

try using it on friendly players that u have focused (you must have your water ele out, causes u to heal friendly players with frostbolt)

Works with mouseover aswell. I guess that's easier than having to focus someone before you can heal them.

How many times do i have to tell you arcane doesn't do weak damage? The only class that can outdps it is a druid or a wellplayed lock. Stop acting like you know the spec when youve only played it a few games

thanks. now I don't have to write it

edit: instead I wrote this lol

does good overall dmg but can't really burst
Arcane does insane burst. With the new patch like that other thread said, there is a lot of "turtling" in mid where both teams meet. You dont even half to move around that much so what is the problem with 800 arcane blast crits

get 6 stacks, nova and arcane barrage if multiple targets, or frostfire bolt -> arcane barrage. will be 100% crit x2, cause of the shatter talent. frostfire bolt is 500+, arc barrage is 800+. 1300 in a global is decent burst

ps. if you're pom specced you can even use a 6 stacks AB before the shatter.

You guys clearly have more arcane experience then me, I choose to surrender on this one.

finally ive been waiting like 3 days for this.

Magikade has a point here. But everyone knows that internet arguments are as retarded as my gameplay.

Being viable or not, mages are still very fun to play ;)
(Aside from being ambush eviscerated by berserker rogues)

Kallekadehex you said you surrendered you can't surrender and then hop in with another argument :(

I didnt surrender my opinion, just felt these arcane buddies probably (with all right) is more familiar and experienced with the class since patch release :) I still think it's faaaaaaaar from what it was in cata and with the new health-pools and other classes getting buffed that they aren't too great
