Mages

We can scientifically deduce from this that having a BiS Mage and playing your Mage are exactly the same thing.
 
I would imagine Frost CC mage still does allright, since it hasn't lost much abilities (cone of cold is the only one I guess? And faster first frostbolt), but has gained arcane explosion in change. But arcane is just boring and shite dmg.

Fire is pretty much the only viable spec for DPSing now, and even fire has straight out SHIT damage. Ok, if you happen to get like 2 instant pyros in a row, you do OK burst. If both crit, well then it's a shitload of burst. But chances of that happening are so low that you shouldnt even imagine about it. Even with 25% crit I dont get enough crits to put out even "ok" damage, since pyro cast is long like a lifetime, and scrorch hits 125s on targets with absolutely no resistances. Instant pyro crits are always a very nice burst and fun to see, but they happen too seldom to be too effective. Also, Pyroblasts can be resisted. Completely.

And to add the fact that a rogue can take out over 75% of your hp easily with a single ambush + eviscerate combo. You frost nova and perhaps blink the fuck off, he throws at you a couple of times and after that you die of 200 poison ticks. Well that was fun. This happens a lot, I'm telling you. Add the fact that you have only 1 slow now that CoC was removed, which is frostfire bolt with 2,4sec cast time, you are really squishy atm. I would say, even more squishy than in Cata. No more hunters to global you, but rogues seem to do that job easy.

Oh just another thing, against feral. Everyone should know by now that they are nearly unkitable. Well, unkitable by any class but another druid that camps travelform. They can just shift out of your nova and frostfirebolt, and do hefty damage through cloth "armor". Even if you happen to run into a shit feral that somehow cant keep up to you, he can still overheal your scorch damage with rejuvenation. I'm serious about this, they can easily outheal your damage while running to you to shred you into tiny bits.

Mage DPSing in 19s is dead. Go play CC mage if you wanna be even a little useful for your team. Let's face it, MoP is a load of bullshit for 19 mages.

Are you kidding me?!?!? I am schocked reading your post. Arcane is the way to go. Even before the holy shock nerf, I was always top 3 for damage done in a battleground on my arcane mage. Now that holy shock does way less damage i can easily be top damage done in a battleground. Arcane Barrage with no charge still does decent damage.. Anywhere from 180-400. When many players are fighting you can spam arcane blast and do insane damage. By 6th charge you will be doing around 800 damage when you crit which is pretty often and your arcane barrage will hit hard. Arcane does way more damage than fire or frost.

When i see other mages in WSG i facepalm. I do my best to always cast arcane explosion when I am running around, sometimes even when i am fighting to try to catch some stealthies. Arcane explosion has a one second cooldown. Because of the new mana system if you cast it once by the time that one second cooldown is done and you cast it again Your mana will have regenerated back to full. Because of this you can just keep casting it and never run out of mana. This makes it really tough for rogues to get you out of stealth. They have to time it so that they stay out of range then quickly sap me while i am waiting on that one second cooldown. If you ever see me in the gulch when i am running around I am always casting arcane explosion every 2 seconds. This makes mages very good for running along side your fc.

If you know what you are doing arcane mage is really good and can pull better dps than any other class besides maybe a warlock easily now that they nerfed holy shocks damage

You're talking about something different than the post you quoted. Just because a class can top dmg done doesn't mean it's good. Arcane is pretty much utter shit imo (have to admit I've only played a few BG:s as it in MoP-patch). You never have the time to free-cast to charge your arcane, burst is non-existent, you got no slow or freeze except for frostfire and frost nova.

Frost (CC) > Fire > Arcane
 
well i was very disappointed of acrane so i tried out fire which isn't that bad but still not as fun as it was 3 weeks ago (before the patch)^^ sadly the 15 fire resi on cloak is really sick which some of the twinks still have <.<
scorch goes down from 125 to 85 and thats not all xD love it when i cast a whole year for a pyro and enemy reists -.-!
 
Having played my mage at length yesterday since the patch and getting everything updated, I'm liking where mages are. As arcane with about 20% crit and 210 spell power, I was still seeing arcane barrage crits of 400 or so, and frostfire bolt crits around 500, arcane blast around 500 as well. We can still do a good amount of damage on the move, and arcane explosion is a solid but not perfect alternative to losing cone of cold. It puts crappy rogues and druids to the test, as I pulled out more rogues than they got saps off on me. POM/sheep is super handy for some instant cc, and now we blood elf mages effectively have 3 casting interrupts if necessary. The loss of the mini sprint after blink is kind of lame, especially when trying to keep up with paladins who are smart enough to keep their 3 stacks/30% movement going.

Overall I'm pretty happy with mages so far.
 
You're talking about something different than the post you quoted. Just because a class can top dmg done doesn't mean it's good.

If it is easy to top damage with a certain spec, doesnt that mean that it must be somewhat decent? And you say that you almost never get the time to cast arcane blast yet you say that you have hardly played the class. Thats like saying football is the stupidest sport ever oh yea by the way I've only seen like 3 football games on tv. I have played mage a lot since the patch was launched and I use arcane blast a lot. Just like gliiese im happy where mages are and arcane is not "utter shit". Just cause you played a few games and didnt like it doesnt make it utter shit.
 
yo man I heard topping damage was more important then being effective.

Fire mages spec doesn't provide any better CC and does much less damage. Why would fire be considered better than arcane then?
