19 priest?

So I was on my bank alt today sorting through my bags, and I noticed I have pretty much every BoE piece that a 19 priest would need. I also have all but 1 of the enchant scrolls the char would need. So, Im plannig on rolling one :p

The char would probably have maxed mining and herb, and no head slot item til I get my fishing hat. Im probably going to roll a dorf because I like the way they look, but would Draenei or Nelf really be THAT much better?

Also, my main question is.....are priests even worth it in 19s? I really dont play my 19 much (sham), but it seems like theyre missing a ton of their important spells. Any info on whether or not theyre worth it would be nice.

Yes, they are very worth it. Their powerful instant cast support/healing spells combined with efficient and fast heals make them great healers all around.

On a more advanced note, the ability to Dispel harmful abilities is only available to the Priests, which make them staples in any WSG (or 5v5.) Furthermore, the versatility of Psychic Scream is great...It can be used offensively or defensively to great effect, and is a force to be reckoned with.

I warn you, though, to get used to a lot of kiting and wanding. Don't neglect the wanding; 29.0 dps for free is some good stuff, and is what lets Priests be able to compete 1v1 vs any class reasonably well.

Hope this helps! I'm currently writing a guide on basic Mana Management and will soon write about dueling/arena techniques.

As for the race issue, I would definitely go Draenei. Gift of the Naaru is Stoopid good, as it's undispellable, targetable, and scales with Spell Power. The 2% shadow resistance is a subtle but important advantage, too. That means one in every 50 fear, dots, wand, SF-proc, or Bolt/Blast that would hit a dwarf would miss you as a mooncow. That might not seem impressive, but believe me it will help you out

Dwarf used to be a good choice, but it kinda sucks now tbh.

Thanks for all the infor Quara :D Looks like Im definitely rolling a priest. But on the race problem....would human be better than Draenei, oly because of 2x AGM?

Gooooooood question. Depends on your roll, honestly. If you're going to be more' 'support' then draen. If you're planning to be more solo-oriented, maybe Human would be better (+12 stam and less trinket CD.) Honestly, though, GotN is pretty nifty. Anyone else have a say in this?

120 hp and 2 minute trinket vs GotN (big HoT) and 5 minute trinket

i dunno seems like a tough choice. personally i like GotN since it gives you a huge HoT for free, and mixed with herbalism you can survive for a very long time. but 2 minute trinket is very good against stuff like polymorph.

i guess for soloing, go with draenai, for premades go human. /shrug, just a suggestion.

Do you have access to BoAs? Because then Human becomes a better option because of the open trinket slot.

Although now that I'm thinking about it, with the Draenei racial, Spidersilk Drape + Lavishly Jeweled Ring would put you either at or quite close to hit cap, which is pretty nice.

Also I was wondering something. Shadow Resistance is worded, "Reduces the chance you will be hit by Shadow spells by 2%" To me, just by that wording, it gives shadow spells an additional chance to Miss, meaning a hit capped person could still miss you. Can someone confirm whether it gives you that chance to resist or to have someone miss?

I can vouch for Gift of the Naaru over 2 AGM's. Combine it with a semi-powerful Powerword Shield, and a renew, you will be set. Besides, if you want 2 AGMs just switch your pvp trinket out when it's on CD, (assuming your not in Combat).

Edit: Forgot to add in what DD mentioned, add in Lifeblood to that Renew and Gift combo, massive HoT's incoming! ^_^

I'd pretty much go draenei if you're going to be doing premades or human if you solo more. Although I have a question of my own.. for a priest taking part in premades is it worth getting mp5? I was considering getting advisor's staff, +6mp5 on inferno etc on my upcoming priest, any thoughts?

Also there will hopefully be a 25% buff to mp5 with 3.2..

As an O priest, absolutely. You want to have a 6mp5 chest, 4mp5 bracers, and the PvP ring. Advisor's Staff I've never personally used, but it's not a horrible idea. On D I would use spellpower bracers but still Inferno Robe and the ring.

nice dps priest Disinter,

here's my healer/FC priest: [char=eu-Stormrage]Penicillin[/char]

(5 staff rotation system you can't see here obviously)

Being Human the double AGM hp allows for some flexibility in other pieces of gear you may want to wear. With SP wep equipped my priest still has 1735 mana available in the pool, 90sp and decent regen without having to sacrifice too much health. In the clutch FC gear, he's a beast, survivability is amazing compared to say a Blood Elf priest which I also have (altho currently short an agm but does have the hat). Also you should consider the other racial humans have:

Increases your Stealth detection.

Its seriously amazing at what range you can detect rogues vs. on say my Blood Elf this again may help with survivability as an early warning system depending on the situation and type of game play.

You'll want to also consider the roll you're priest will play, mostly pugs? 10v10 premades and if so more offense or defense? etc.

I doubt you could go wrong with Draenei either, I would say pick the one that will best match your play style.

Here's armories to my priests.

Human - Crusade:

[char=us-Bloodhoof]%C3%87r%C3%BCs%C3%A0d%C3%A8[/char]

Blood Elf - Jihad:

[char=us-Zul%27jin]J%C3%AFh%C3%A1d[/char]

p.s. and before my peers start chiming in on the gear choices, yes I come here wearing goggles to talk about priests :)

This is truth.

For offensive priest, you have to remember that Stamina is next to useless (against most defenses at least.) Stacking mp5 is really important because, if the D is doing their job right, you'll be spamming that Dispel button like your keyboard is on fire. My usual 'offense set up' includes +6mp5 to chest, +4mp5 to bracer, +2mp5 from ring, +3mp5 from Advisor's Staff, as well as the [item]Smoked Sagefish[/item] and Mana Oil. It's hard to go oom with that kind of backup to your pool.

I would still advise Draenei over Human. Unless you're going hardcore solo-style, I think the Draenei give you a lot more options. Ertai mentioned the +Hit they give, which I totally forgot and is great. What really sells it to me is the fact that GotN is targettable; you're not stuck with it being only useful for self-preservation.

Priests are by far the funnest class I have EVER played. It is exilitariting in any wsg or arena aspect. They can do a decent amount of damage, but they are mostly a support healing class. Also priest can 1v1 almost any class.
