Mindthrust Bracers

Greetings from the 19s section!
I was recently talking to my brother, who is not the most experienced twinker, about gearing his f2p mage.
He brought up how he wasn't sure whether he should use Hovel Digger Bands or Mindthrust Bracers. Well that shocked me, he had Mindthrust on a f2p?! Apparently.
So now I ask you: What would be a good way to hit-cap a mage, before heirlooms, without using Hovel Digger Bands. The class-quest staff is obviously a thought, and so is Lavishly/Ello's. He's also thinking of getting Flying Tiger Goggles instead of LFH. Is this reasonable? LFH is obviously a risk to take, as he might not get it, and Flying Tiger Goggles are not that bad (He is a gnome, but he still can't get shadow goggles can he?)

Also, is this rare? Are there any other f2ps with Mindthrust? :)

Cheers,
Hallonsaft and Tríxie of Sporeggar EU

There are a decent amount of F2Ps with mindthrusts (or at least as decent as such a rare item will allow). It's still one of those, "wow, grats on such a rare item" kind of thing but there are enough that it's not like a Shadowfang or Ring of Precision where you link it in a chat.

Hovel is BiS, for Alliance, unfortunately. You can mog the Mindthrusts to show them off I suppose or use them in a max int/no hit set, but that is not advisable.

Shadowfang or Ring of Precision
There are about equal amounts of people on AP with Mindthrust or RoP, it's definitely more rare than you're making it out to be. There aren't enough where you wouldn't link it in chat, idk where you're getting that idea from.
