Does Anyone Really Miss One Less Twink?

It's a rhetorical question of course.

After spending 4 years in twinking brackets, 39 in BC, 70 until now in Cata, I'd had enough of this bracket for my most PVP'd character an undead priest. 66k honor kills, the Conqueror title and I'd had enough of this bracket. Even my "main" had 10k fewer HK's.

He's now just another 85 striving for full Cata gear grinding out 1650 a week, running LFR and pugging rated BG's.

I've been contemplating whether or not to even make a thread about this but really think the community would be interested in why someone who invested 4+ years into a character that would "never level" leveled.

Frankly, I got very tired of the ridiculous burst, the OP heals that made many healers unkillable in random BG's, the completely mismatched games (Horde wins huge Horde loses huge.), the players that show up in what they were leveling with, ungemmed, unenchanted Brutal etc. In short; it continued to become more of the exact same player issues that exist at 85. However you don't get 3 shot with a bubble up at 85 by 3 rogues with Warglaives even though you properly geared.

This isn't a look at me, you'll miss me won't you message. I still have 3 70's, none of which I've touched in months. It's just a general statement that I believe that interest in this bracket is seriously waning. My Alliance guild has 20-30 70 twinks, I led Sunwell/BT raids weekly for 6+ months on my server and geared more 70's than I can count. I looked at guild activity, with one exception (My rogue who gets to do Darkmoon dailies one week a month.) they haven't logged in in a month or more.

Priesting was one of my favorite pastimes. Priesting at 70 became ugh, really? Do I really want to win big or lose big and never be able to make a difference?

I think that's what I really have grown to dislike about 70's. One player can rarely make or break a game. At 39's the 2-3 "real" twinks could carry 15 people, even when GASP we had to walk around Arathi Basin. When Cata came up my old 70 became very fun to play again and could make a difference. Not so anymore, not in my opinion.

Now that I'm an 85 healer I can tilt the balance in a match, I can almost single handedly lock down a node with a DPS or two, I can make a FC almost unkillable, I can make assaulting a territory in Tol Barad a suicide mission. All of these things ceased to be possible for 70's.

Please, spare me the you should have done cross realm pre-mades, rated BG's, transfer to my server we're a full twink guild responses. That's not meant to be disrespectful to a group of dedicated players that read these forums. It's just me saying if I couldn't enjoy twinking in PUG random BG ques I'm not interested anymore.

I really do fear for the simplification of talents, stats etc in MOP. My 70 rogue, who absolutely, 100% never in a million years, will ever level due to legendaries is likely to become the equivalent of a bank alt or a look at me museum piece like T3 geared 60's.

Oh well, end of rant. No one will really miss one less 70 priest anyways.

Couldn't agree more.

The 70 bracket used to have all the spells you would ever need to actively twink to the full, however due to cata and soon MoP, we have had to sacrifice A LOT of abilities from the old 70 'times'. I agree that the bracket is not enjoyable anymore, in my eyes, it's just a bracket where you can easily wintrade achievements and titles before leveling up to the 'real' bracket of 85. There is no insentive to play the bracket seriously anymore, not when 1 deepfreeze = death when combo'd with tazik or synapse.

/sigh. Have fun at 85!

I don't really understand the logic of this thread...

So you are leaving the bracket due to OP burst, unkillable healers and bads (there will always be bads so i'll ignore this reason)-Yet you play a glaives rogue and a priest--two of the most dominant classes at 70. based on your post, you clearly have a casual playstyle(with the low member guild, pugs at max level, etc) which may explain your frustrations with the 70 bracket. If you can't find success in the 70's bracket w/ crutch classes then I do recommend leveling or playing a normalized bracket. To be fair, yes the bracket has died down-clearly to the release of D3 and stale content. This will be invigorated with MOP's release I'm sure.

It really is coincidence that I had a 70 priest and rogue in the first place. You can tell by my join date that I'm not making this up, or could guess that. My Allicance guild is anything but a low member guild. We're 900+ with 20-30 twink alts. It's a diversion for us, not a reason for playing. My Horde guild is focused on heroic DS and not large, they were shocked when I called it quits with my 70.

Both were rolled during BC. Playing a 39 shadow priest in BC was anything but dominant but it was my favorite character and expansion to play. When I skipped WOTLK and came back to Cata it was just normal for me to pick up twinking again with my priest at 70. My rogue was a 49 in BC when I rolled it, same thing, 70's felt normal. It was good at 49 but enhancement shammies were the kings of melee burst DPS in 49's back then.

It's not the class imbalance so much that did me in but the complete lopsidedness of the wins and losses. Competitive matches were few and far between. Que times playing Alliance at 10-12 minutes stinks. In short, just burned out on the bracket.

WotLK 70 twinks, never forget. And I completely agree with OP.

85 legendary rogue is not OP.
Have fun at 85

I do understand some of it, carrying people at lower level brackets might be right since, it's way easier to get the desired gear in this 70 bracket, yes you gotta do raids and a few bg's to get BiS or scout the auction house for 2 or 3 socket items, and that's way easier than the BiS at lower levels, where you might need to spend 100 - 500k gold on a item or 100 - 400$, and this is where you can see who's the real twink or not, they invested time, gold and maybe IRL money on their toon which is way better geared than the average twink. While as I said above, at level 70 it doesn't require that much to get BiS gear which will make everyone have the same gear rougly, resulting in everyone being the same burst or healing machine. Before people tell me to fuck off, I do still love this bracket even tho what I metioned above. :)

39 Vanilla / TBC was the shit, I remember rocking my PoD on my enhancement shaman, named Kagatsuki. It haven't been the same since the activity turned to shit because of XP locked BG's.

I understand why you did this, but I got so many level 85's that it wouldn't make sense to level my 70. :)

Very much agree with the OP. Bracket has gone to poop long ago for me for many of the reasons you mentioned. I hardly ever BG on my 3x70's now.

I'm not enthused with what MoP will bring either. Maybe the balance will be better for some of the lower brackets, but I think this bracket will largely be the same.

Yes there may be different classes or specs that come to the fore, but there will still be OP and Fotm classes that people will change too. I suspect the yawnfest will start all over again. To change this there needs to be a fundamental look at what level different classes get different abilities and a balancing of damage output that they were supposed to have looked at, in what 4.1.(?)

The saving grace may be the baseline resilience to help reduce burst, but no doubt they will screw up the balance of PvP Power and hence possibly make the situation worse than it is now.

As usual with twinking these days, we wait and we hope...

The awesome difference is, as a priest at 70, a good rogue with synapse and full bis pve should be you every time unless they make a mistake. @ 85 as a priest, you can make as many mistakes as you want and be unkillable to a full cata legendary rogue, And have fun @ 85 vs dem trip deepz as a priest if your partners cant peel perfectly, cause it is going to be exactly like 70s

Same shit- different level
