Want info about donations from Admin.

Recently saw that "donation goal" per month was posted on the front page. I don't mind donating money, but I'd just like a little transparency about what it gets used for, or maybe how much percentage actually goes toward running the site vs. in someone's pocket as income.

I run a few websites and pay about $8.00 a month, so was wondering why it's so high at $150.00 a month. Do administrators/moderators get paid? Do you rent out dedicated servers? etc..??

I think people would be willing to donate more money and larger sums of money if some of these things are publicized or explained a little.

He recenty said before thy he doesn't use cheap as servers to run the site on, therefore the price is higher than normal.

Well, it is so expensive because I do not deal with horrid server companies. Yes, if I wanted slow server response times in regards to page loads, then I would opt for something cheaper. I have been using Media Temple dedicated servers for about 8 years now and I will never deal with anyone else. Thus far, we have had 1 problem with TI a couple of days ago when the server was DDOS'd. Other than that, everything has been 100% up.

Again, the donations are simply a GOAL. No one is requiring anyone to donate You can donate simply to help take some of the financial strain off of my back each month!

And to answer your questions the staff does not get paid for our work and according to Shane's post the money is used for the dedicated server.

I explained it elsewhere and Eliot quoted my post. Again, no one is forcing a donation. If you want to donate to help TI, that is great. If not, you can carry on with your normal TI melodrama

I am sure that you do run your sites for $8.00 per month on a shared server with "unlimited bandwidth" and other "unlimited resources". I prefer to run my sites on a server that has dedicated resources so that I do not have to deal with downtime, burst traffic lag, etc.

also a real question, why is it so hard to connect from the UK if theres unlimited bandwidth, etc. when other sites have no such trouble
