What does the 29 bracket need?

I'm interested in making a 29 for a change of pace, and need to know what is best for the bracket.

Who needs more, Horde or Alliance? What role is lacking, FC, heals, support, DPS? Is BoA gear BIS in most situations? I'd like to roll on a server with a lot of other players but if I need BoAs I'd probably want to make the character first then transfer. Any info would be appreciated, I would be completely new to 29s.

Also, how bursty is the bracket? More or less so than 19s currently?

I think what is lacking tends to depend on the night. I have played nights where horde has next to no heals, but others where they have way more than enough. Horde has a stable FC situation, not so sure about alliance. I know FC does quite frequently, but not sure if there is anyone else.

I would suggest rolling a class you will enjoy playing over what is 'needed' because that may change by the time you finish leveling and gearing your toon. If you choose to go horde I would certainly suggest Dragonmaw. It has the most horde players and Franchi will help you with anything you might not be able to find on your home server or are unable to do on your own. I can also help out there if needed.

Alliance does not necessarily have a 'hub' so to speak at the moment, but fird, nine, shook, shaket (basically a lot of old 39ers) and a few others are on Doomhammer so you might want to talk to them if you decide alliance is the way to go.

No server is going to have a lot of players in the 19s sense, but Dmaw horde will have the most 29s for sure that are currently active. I am normally on émcee (alt130) if I am on Dmaw, feel free to send me a msg in game or PM me for real id.

edit- on the bursty part. outside of getting hoj'd and having crypto dry fist you it is not as bad as you might think. It is by no means light, but no where near the 80's bracket for example. You can survive with heals and peels through quite a bit, but be prepared to be abused by rogues/rets/hunters if you are alone or do not have the proper support.

I'm also looking to do this. The problem is I wouldn't be able to get BoA's outside of the 4 servers I am on (in my sig). Is that a problem?

You really want the BOAs if you have them. You would just be unnecessarily limiting your toon by not using them..

That's what I figured. I'm going to make a resto druid on Dragonmaw (given Franchi's offer) and I'll manually farm the BoAs. It seems like the class least limited by not having the guild BoAs and I can always farm the rest of the BoAs on the 29 or a different class on a BG weekend.


Granted, if you know of a class that's betters suited without BoAs please tell me as I'm not sure how much I want to be a resto druid (I hate being pinholed into being the FC).

Success. Question, what shield do Horde healers use? Everyone I've seen has the grandfathered one (which I really want ><). The other shield I wanted means I can't get Arcanist Ring, which is a perfect way to hit cap. The closest I've gotten to a good shield I want is the 8 stam BoE Green one.

without boa you could still mash your face into the keys and own everything as a hunter... most of the time caster classes are hurt the worst without boa becuase of the spell power on the weapon.

Yeah I assumed HPally was the best but that's not necessarily what the bracket would benefit most from if there are a bunch of active Paladins already.

Your best bet is to roll one of each faction (non hunter) of something you enjoy playing. When I played I had a ret horde and a mage alliance. That way you can jump back and forth if a side is lacking. most people are selfish and won't do that or will play whatever side is winning.

New to the bracket; from what I've seen games are Sundays and Tuesdays at 10pm EST? Finishing up with the gear at the moment, should be almost done by tonight. Horde Disc Priest, Kätara (alt 132) on Fenris.
