Mage 84 ?

Hey,

Used to twink at 60 but decided to try out the 80 so SOR'd one to it and i choice a mage.
Now i wonder or its worth going to 84 for the extra health + flame orb and ring of frost spell !
As in my first arena i got pretty much nuked down in 1sec by another mage and shadow priest. (I aint a noob in arena neither an hero but i'm 2.2-2.3k)

Ive learnt now to use my defensive cd's alot faster but still..

Would i lose much of my stats (mastery) if i go to 84 ? Keep in mind that i would sit at 100k health + have 2new spells.

No. Frost scales with mastery better than SP, so you actually end up losing damage. Plus, you'll die to most bursty classes as fast.

if you just SoR'd youre probably better off fully gearing (either cata or wrathful) and keep going at it

plus if you were gonna lvl id stop at 83 since thats all you need for RoF and youd still retain some decent stats (tho mastery and all 2ndary stats would still be tons lower)

You won't be hitting 100k+ hp on a mage @ 84.

I SoR'd a secondary account and chose to take a mage to 84. I couldn't get any help on what to look for gear wise, but this is what I got winging it.

I'm sure I've said. 84, for a mage, just isn't nearly as viable. Frost tends to scale better with mastery than SP (point for point), so you can do incredibly high burst at 80, where the non-shatter hits will be higher with 84s, but the burst is frankly a joke.

Well i'm fully geared now and have no problems at all.

Got an question since i may go fire to have abit more challenging fights in arena. I wonder or anyone know priority at 80 fmage? In fire i have 33% crit which is more then enough (Thought their whas some fire cap which is somewhere between 22-27%?)
So wonder or its worth going for haste or just mastery aswell if that be any usefull for these short fights usually in arena?

i havent heard of a crit cap on fire mages before, alls i know is 33.34% is the shatter cap for frosties
at 85 for pve the priority is int > hit to cap > haste (to 25%) > crit > mastery iirc. but 80 might be different due to all the insane scaling, plus you'll obviously need vastly less hit, but also should grab some spell pen for pvp
depending on how much mastery you could get it might be better than haste, but try for the highest haste plateau you can get first as additional ticks will add to ur dmg a lot
