Why LV 10?

I've lurked on this board for awhile and I've been wanting to try to twink some characters .

One thing that I've noticed is that a lot of people don't LV past 10. Wouldn't a 14 be more effective at this bracket?

I've got most of the BOA's so the way I see it you would get more stats as you lv. Do the stats scale differently at lv 10 then 11-14?

@ level 10 the stats have a greater scaling effect giving you more percentages from a lower rating. for example my feral druid sits at almost 71% crit

The stats scale a million times differently at lvl 10 than 11-14... Sure you can get a nice health pool at 14' + a couple extra talents/spells..
But 10's are wayy better imho.

Take for example my friends hunter:

chardev 9 Here he is lvl 10 and have 80% haste and 44% crit..
Then i make him 14.
chardev 9 Then he have 27% haste and 23% crit..

Yes he could get new gear at 14, but it wouldnt improve alot..

I really think it depends on the class as to how "good" you would be at 14. Everything is viable, really. There isn't a right or wrong.

Thanks that is great to know. I had a hunter I twinked with for a long time and am now doing a mage but am at lv 13 at the moment. I noticed I was hitting harder at 10 so that would explain it.

Always funny seeing lvl 14s faces when you pwn em. They don't understand wth struck em.

Like the ppl above said, secondary stats are worth a lot more per point at 10 compared to 14. I have seen my twink get 212% haste with the 2 haste trinkets, boa cloak, iron counterweight and lifeblood popped. Makes for insane auto attack speed and cast times.

There are a few classes that are only viable at fourteen. Locks are a good example of this. They can only deal damage at 10, but they pick up CC at 14 without losing much dps output because of the way spell crit scales.

In MOP 14 mages will be insane though

Some of the classes in MoP would benifit a Lot from lvling to 14, like a 14 druid FC would get 40% dmg reduction and 6% less chance to be crit.

Mage will get Arcane blast + barage Pew pew.
And blink aswell ..

Combine those and herbalism >.<

The question is, why not Level 10?

Level 10 gets incredible stat scales that can allow a level 10 to defeat a character in the 40s. (Which is possible. I've done so on my Rogue.) Heck, some have defeated level 58 DKs. I have as well.

14 is usually only viable for FCing or classes with CC TBH.

Even then, most of the FCs go 10 for the dodge, parry, and shizzle like that.

On my feral 20 druid (w/f2p enchants and not near BiS), I've had my arse handed to me in Gurubashi by a lvl10 balance druid. 5 months later with better gear, I'm pretty sure I could take him without too much trouble, but it was simple THE most painful experience in my 6 yrs of playing WoW.
