Obscure Achievements for F2P not YET Obtained

No, there's still quite a few that neither of us have. That was the point of the thread, to see if anyone had found any I hadn't thought of.

Grandfathered simply means usable by those that have it, but no longer obtainable after a certain point. You're the only one that seems to misunderstand its meaning. It is a legal term.

its all moot, but:

No, that most def. isn't what grandfathered means. "Grandfather" is an exception to a rule.

If Blizz said "No lowbies can be Hallowed unless the achievement was completed before X date", then our Hallowed titles would be "grandfathered". That's not the case. The rule is now simply roughly equivalent to "No lowbies can obtain the title". There's no "grandfathering" exception taking place.

"Grandfather clause is a legal term used to describe a situation in which an old rule continues to apply to some existing situations, while a new rule will apply to all future situations."

Like I said, there's no exception to any existing rule, therefore there's nothing being "grandfathered"...and that's the case with all the gear/titles/achievements in the game.

"grandfathered" does not equal "no longer obtainable"

Whether it's a specific rule, or an unintended consequence of a new patch, the result is the same. People that got achievements or items before a certain point, get to use and keep them. Anyone wanting to get them after that point can not.

It's the same with grandfathered phone or broadband plans. It's not as though the companies specifically say that people can't get them, they simply no longer offer them. People already on those plans can generally remain on them though.

You must understand that you're the only one that thinks this way, and that, if by no other reason, in this context, the language has evolved to mean exactly what everyone (except you) uses it to mean.

This isn't something like people confusing then and than, or international spelling where both may be considered acceptable. It's the same as the word twink. It's most common usage within this game would be obvious to anyone. It also has other meanings, but it would be fairly simple to understand what it has evolved to mean, even if I personally do not like or use the word.

point taken...its not that i don't understand how the word is being used and what it's "wow" definition is. i'm just saying the word is misused even if that misuse is commonly accepted. and i'm the only 'vocal' person who thinks this way.

For me, it's like "ain't" grinding inside an English teacher's skull.

I'm pretty sure that once the pandas come, Deathwing will stop killing people in random lowbie zones, so that will be grandfathered for low levels too.

Just a heads up, this achievement becomes grandfathered (haha) once a server has its realm first Deathwing kill.

And solvo is for the most part correct, I think you and Lofi have pretty much covered every achievement available. I've spent many an hour comparing the achievements list with those that you two have gotten. I've tested a few that seemed plausible and I have yet to find something we can get that you don't have or are in the process of achieving or someone else has proven attainable. Of course, if I find any I'll post them.

To my knowledge, he's stopped doing random flyovers and the only way to get it as of 4.3 is in DS.

**** ! ******** ! ****** **** *** !!!!! I'm killing Fozruk for 3 hours ( only today ) ... I am also bored of Ghost In The Shell ... ********* dieeee Fozruk !!!

Master looter doesn't work on the camel, so that one is no longer possible either. It was possible to be close enough to roll at one point, of course the debuff was also /played time, so you could kill him multiple times on the one find. It's currently real time, and his respawn time is longer than 20 minutes.

The only way to get the achievement now is being able to kill him on a hunter in under 20 minutes, which will not be easy, or even possible, as F2P. Also I did find the fight trivial. Over in ~30 secs and never dropped below 100% HP. Obviously a 20 hunter would need to kite and would be one shot. I'm not sure what happens if you die, you probably lose the debuff and phasing.

Thanks for debunking that myth! I wasn't about to try and find another after how long it took me to find the first non-crumbling statue. Regarding the fight, even if he can be kited, I think he has way too much health to kill within the 20-minute timer on a F2P hunter. Maybe could be done with some insane buffs, but we'd have to look at his total HP to crunch the numbers.
