Deadvulcano's Rumblings

5 of 23 post on topic.

7 articles up atm. And the current SekcMustard rogue guide looks promising. Gouge the disengage.

I found your reads pretty interesting and amusing, but I looked at it 2 times, your first post and at this last. You're just writing at a pace that is incredible fast. +1. It might be a good idea to announce a new item on your blog in this thread.

I'm definitely looking forward to reading your tutorials on twinking. I liked your comments on how there is a "life story" behind every player you encounter, even those in anonymous pugs. It's easy to dismiss those we don't know/don't play with. Some of my most interesting and fun moments in wow have happened with random strangers.

- I would have left comments on your blog, but couldn't for some reason.

GW2 ruined WoW for me :( :)

Deadvulcano's Rumblings

I'm working on making movies soonish. I still have several old pvp movies and I have about 10 hours of GW2 action.

I did pve as elementalist, and pvp on all classes. I got a random world raid boss encounter and tons of insight otherwise. Let me know if you're looking for anything specific so I can prioritize items.

I enjoyed warrior, elementalist, engineer, and mesmer the most. But even then, there is so much versatility with the classes. Depending on how you build them you can make completely different play styles within each profession.

Interesting read, i have one question though; is GW2 going to be free or is there going to be a monthly subscription fee like wow?

There is no subscription fee for gw2

I'll paraphrase the developers:
"We will not charge a subscription fee because we feel that the players should choose what to purchase. The content we create should be paid for after its made. The player should always have that choice."

Now back to me. Its a ridiculous slap in the face that you should have to pay a subscription fee for bug fixes and so called "balance". Developers should not be allowed to force players to write a blank check every month for content that may or may not affect you. This needs to happen for consumers. The fact that arenanet is willing to take a chance and keep core developer standards speaks volumes for what they are trying to do. Users are comfortable paying and turning a blind eye to what happens. This needs to stop. GW2 can make it happen.

You can keep going on and on about Guild Wars 2 or Tera or Star Wars, whatever the current fotm wow-killer is, but I think it's no secret that behind obvious issues in wow is a game rivaled by no other

[...]whatever the current fotm wow-killer is[...]

This is exactly the problem. Some products are strong because of the size of the user base. Superior products may exist, but cannot break through the social aspect. Increasing the social presence is how to strengthen this, which is exactly why the battletag system is in development.

subjective. While to you Guild Wars may be far more appealing, to others it won't be

For some reason you don't understand what I'm writing.

The very fact you used the term "wow-killer" brings absolutely no information to the table. Combining that with fotm is simply extending the ignorant statement. I certainly welcome discussion, but try to discuss.

I simply brought in an economic statement concerning products and consumer loyalty. You immediately infer WoW vs GW2. You are only amplifying my point.

Your statement makes no sense. First you say "subjective", then follow it up with "to others [Guild Wars 2] won't be [more appealing]"

I honestly cannot tell if you're trying to help me prove a point, or if this is seriously what you think.

GW2 Projects from the April 2012 Beta Weekend

Deadvulcano's Rumblings

This is just the collection of projects that I would like to start on in this category. I'm not sure if I want to try to learn Lightworks first, or just go with a trial version of vegas.

I'm currently trying to get every project on the table so that I can make better choices about which project to start first. The projects I'm collecting are not exclusive to gaming, so the project collection phase may still take awhile.

I uploaded a test video to check how much the quality drops on youtube. This is unlisted and only meant as a test. I'm not sure why 1080p just doesn't seem to translate well. Maybe Lightworks can fix it? Although its probably just how youtube operates.

GW2 Test upload - YouTube

Its just an Elementalist running around in the starter town. A few things to note, it seems that strafing is slightly slower than just running forward. And backpedaling is extremely slow. I should be able to start on one of the projects listed on the blog by Thursday. Possibly finish the first video this weekend.

Hiatus 2012

It is pure coincidence that this post is exactly 2 months after my last blog post.

In short, I'll be slowly putting together my 'f2p twink guide' starting with what the scoreboard means, and I'll probably start posting about game development.

Looking forward to your new rumbling :)

I'm also quite interested in what you mean when u say that "The f2p bracket has changed considerably" ?
