Shield for enhancement shaman

Hey guys, I'm abit new to being an enhancement shaman (actually a shaman in general.) I was wondering what shield i should take as an enh shaman, to survive rogues openers and when closing the cap vs hunters. I figured having a high stam shield wouldnt work since i would just switch back and lose the stamina. Should i go full armor, dodge or am i missing something with the itemswapping health loss theory?

Thanks in advance all:D

If you want a shield for more survivability, Int/stam is your best bet. 6 AP and 80 extra armor from redbeards isn't better than 60 mana if you're trying to survive.

Yeah thats what i got my resto stam set for. This is just for closing the gap vs hunters in combat and to dont get hurt as much by the rogue opener.

Use the shield to get to LoS, then laugh as the hunter closes the gap for you. Derp, derp.

Profit.

You probably won't kill a backpeddling hunter. They can do 75% of your HP in the initial focus dump. If you survive it, you can OOM yourself while they rebuild focus. And by the time you do catch up to them, you have to shift out of GW to heal up, and they've already disengaged, or scattered.

I wont run into a hunter that has me on target if that is what you're thinking, mostly i jump into one that is busy against another player. I do some burst, he disengages, i take massive damage and if i get to him i can finish my burst. It wont happen often at all i just want the possibilty for if it happens and ofc just wear the shield to piss of rogues. +20% avoidance is something worth trying out for me.

Of course it is useful. Any high end PvPer has a Sword and Board macro on the chars who can use it. There is a reason for that.

Head on vs a Hunter at this level, maybe not as effective as you would like. But for a rogue or even melee vs melee battle, I may be inclined to switch it on and off between LL cooldowns. Depends of course.

Earl hit it on the head. Int/stam shields would be youryourbest bet. Prioritizing stamina over intellect.

It might be nice for survival if you wear it, but i think many of you dont realize that if you swap back and forth the health from the stam on the shield is lost. The same goes for intelect, you dont get extra mana from equiping an item with higher intelect, only a higher mana pool. Therefor i was considering a item with high armor and dodge. Can anybody tell me where im wrong here?:p

your not!

Yes you lose the stamina. But what your not seeing is the fact that your using this shield mainly to get to things, which are already doing the damage. So by the time you get to your target and take off the shield, you would have used all the staminon the shield.

Lets say you have a shield with 6 stamina on it. Now, a hunter hits you for 60 damage by the time you reach him, you use your macro to switch to your second mace. Now it appears you have full hphpdue to the 6 stamina just being a buffer.

First off, you can't fucking dodge a ranged attack. Secondly, the majority of hunter damage (explosive/arcane) is spell damage and won't be negated by armor. Don't ask a stupid question, then ignore all answers and stick by the one you already decided on before asking the question in the first place.

Almost positive you can Dodge a ranged attack now. Seen it happen when I pop evasion ina hunter. I didn't Dodge alot. But I did.
