[Gauging Interest] Wargames!?

Howdy, ya'll. So, it seems that many people are a little angry with pugmades, pugs, and hunters! One thing I haven't seen utilized is the wargames feature. One way to avoid these problems would be to host 5v5 (or hopefully 10v10) WSG's with two groups of APers. Yes, we would not be receiving honor for this, but theoretically, these games would consist of two groups of already geared players who do not need BoA gear/Honor etc. If anyone else would care to at least try this out, I'm more than down for this! Happy Hunting!

It hasn't been utilized because it doesn't work for (level 20) f2ps.

fortunately, there is an alternative that does work for f2ps- the Arena system!

no hunters!

no 24s!

no waiting in queue!

balanced matchups!

fast games!

you can choose who you play with and against!

class and gear compositions are fair for everyone!

skill actually triumphs!

hope to see you in the arenas, where every single one of your gripes with the F2P bracket are solved, whether you want to admit it or not!

well bgs like arenas can have all of what you have listed and then some. It all comes down to the community coming together and setting up bgs not via wargames but the 3...2...1...q countdown method. Sure it may take a while to get it right and a real paragon of organization and follow through. I think their could be potential if we had numbers on alliance side. How many times have you guys attempted to do a AP(H) vs, AP(A). (once and failed to my knowledge). Settings up games like that gives everyone full control on a)# of class per team b)item control for balancing c)misc items (swift pots >:D) etc etc. But again it requires effort in having players that are willing to schedule matches and attend. Moreover their would also be a need to teach/instruct people how to play if most people are new or lacking on what it takes to be "decent" player so that everyone has an enjoyable and challenging experience.

You must not have been here for that 2 hour fiasco.

i was there reading chat

alliance lost one(some) player(s) so they needed to find a replacement not to mention attempting to q happened later than scheduled (dont remember correctly but an hour later) and when attempting to q leaders couldn't get a timed simu q because of whatever reason. Then the actual wait time to get a wsg pop in AB CtA took forever (dont know but should have been expected). People didnt expect the long wait time so some people just pulled out and left.

Are complete shit and I can't imagine anyone playing them for fun.

Woah youakim, what are you saying? Pugs are bad sometimes yes but not all of the time. just because sometimes you get grouped with a few under geared people or the enemy team has a bunch of hunters or 24s doesn't mean the bracket isn't fun anymore.

Think of pugs as a game of cards. Sometimes, you'll be dealt a really good hand and sometimes, you'll be dealt a bad hand, now just because you have a bad hand from time to time doesn't mean you should stop playing all together, sometimes you gotta play with what your dealt and try your best.

The most reasonable response I've seen to all the crying about this bracket.

Kudos.

no, battlegrounds in the 20-24 bracket simply are not fun. there's a reason why pretty much all the good players have quit logging on to do them. i'm tired of seeing people lie to prospective F2Ps. BGs in the 20-24 are not fun, period. they aren't even "battlegrounds" by any reasonable definition - the objectives are completely skewed by the massive imbalances that plague this bracket.

this bracket should have been (and can still be!) the ultimate refuge for people who love WoW pvp in the form of arenas. free to play, very balanced, very easy to create new toons and gear them out, great community base, etc. i could make a whole list. don't get me wrong, i'd love to have this bracket be a refuge for people who love WoW battleground pvp, but that is just not viable. perhaps when subsequent expansion(s) are released and parts of the game are re-balanced, this could still happen.

apparently you speak for everyone right? I already mentioned the imbalances that are rampant in this bracket, i get that. Everyone gets that. But you act like no one can find fun in the f2p bracket simply because of the major imbalances. Ask any reasonable 20 on this forum if they have fun in bgs and most people would say yes.

Refer to my earlier post. No matter what if you pug or not you just have to deal with what you have and try your best to have fun. If you get steamrolled by hunters one game, then try again another game. Stop acting like just because 24s and hunters and other imbalances are running rampant people can't still have fun. pvp in wow is not balanced at all but people still do it. why? because it's still fun regardless

Arenas - yeah, tried that. Unfortunately, getting this set up seems to require more planning than D - day. Not to mention the tiresome posturing of various "Divas" who won't play with or against certain players. While I realize that certain people like to team up together, unwillingness to team with newer/less skilled players means fewer people will want to participate. And though I have been able to join arenas (like maybe a grand total of 3), it certainly isn't encouraging when I believe i'm in a group only to get kicked without even an explanation. I'm sure I'll get over it, and won't let this one experience influence the overall warm fuzzy feelings I have for f2p. Just saying....could be better.

you can still have fun in the F2P bracket despite all the imbalances - by playing arenas, where you can avoid all of these comically imbalanced factors. that was the entire point of my post.

sure. making a separate thread for this right now.

this, how many times do I get picked when people want to do arenas. Nah no one wants the hpally just mages, shamans, priests, druids, rogues and locks.
