Anyone knows why it has been removed? I mean selling in-game items/golds for money, explaining exploits to a whole community and promoting private servers isn't really better right?

Lol. You know I have to totally agree. Seems a strange case of "double standard" doesn't it?

I am sure there is a reason for it.

Prolly to limit exposure to scammers and such, even tho I thought there was a 50 or 100 post benchmark to post in the subforum. Could be a way to focus people to more reputable sites that bring profit to some (like the knucklehead banner ads)

To be honest I don't have a certain answer for you. It was something that Shane did, it was his decision.

It was probably something the admins saw unneeded due to the post count requirement that was originally needed to post in it. Plus; if said post count was removed then spammers would populate that forum like none other (was another popular believe and small truth).

If you wish to do something about it; seeing as I noticed a private server counter arguement; you could always make a petition topic in the bugs and issues part of a forum. Seeing as it is technically an issue towarrds a few community members. Or even contact an admin via PM to talk about your disgrepences.
