agree...skill can't overcome the loss of that many abilities.
open on a hunter, you get scattered, hunter DE's, serpent sting....even a NE crutching SM is a dead rogue. with no SS to get back on hunter, no gouge to gain a combo, more energy, and stall the hunter, no sprint to use after a trinket to clear a conc or SS......really skill of what abilities...re-resing at GY
it's the common sense to sap and hope someone else starts on whatever class you can't gap close on anymore and hope to assist finshing....that's how it was in 19's for rogues in WotLK, but will be even worse now.
paladins with HP's will be on speed dial....they can run in fight a rogue and run out/away on rogue...heal and repeat with impunity. if people tried their rogues after 1st or 2nd patch into WotLK that's what enchance-shams were doing. they had insta GW, non slowing below run speed GW, glyph for a totem that was like a bubble, and earthbind slowing totem. rogues were candy for shamans.
warriors had hamstring, charge with a stun, glyph to increase charge range 5 yards (became 35) btw hunters had 30 yard range at the time, glyph to lock you in place for 5 sec.....rogues were obsolete/gimped in WotLK.
rogues in Wotlk going into CATA lost garrote, expose armor, slice and dice, and lock picking at 19....rebuff was SS, faster stealth, and AMB with any weapon
rogues going into MOP are losing sprint, SS, gouge, backstab, dmg bonus of AMB related to SS.....rebuff is getting slice and dice back, if rogues keep faster stealth...still not gonna make up for sprint loss
i had a level 10 rogue when they moved sprint to 16, that was to much to make up for, even SS couldn't make up for that
it was the second gap closer that made the rogue in WotLK and started some to come back or reroll 19 rogues
i had a level 13 twink hunter in WotLK.....i punked dual SF rogues with ease, after CATA prepatch i couldn't
