Whoever cares to give this a try: I mentioned I started to play Rift. To my pleasant surprise, I see there's a reasonably active twink community. Smaller then in WoW, but much is undiscovered, xp locks are simply enabled/disabled in the game menu and twinking is possible at literally any level. So far, I got a level 15 rogue and a level 1 cleric on an xp lock. A level 50 (current max level) is advised for some extremely overpowered enchants. Twinking a lowbie means you're going to spend alot of time researching, trying and browsing the auction house. You'll probably delete and retry alts alot too but I found it's worth the effort.
Just a heads up for who, like me, got bored of WoW but not of twinking, I can recommend anyone who likes to experiment to give this thing a try.

Are the bg's the same? Like exp on only joins exp on bg's and exp off only joins exp off bg's?

Playing with xp gain disabled is entirely the same at this moment as playing with xp gain, as far as I can tell. BG pops up quite often, although there are alot of people especially in lower brackets with blues and epics, as those are relatively easy to obtain.

I used to do the same in 4Story. Had a lv1 assassin with ilvl7+24 gear. I still have the only cloak that lv1s can wear swhich very few people have.
