That is going to be something that is in the new revision. It is only going to send out a PM when you reach the threshold for the full nomination (which is 6 votes right now).

With this change, there is only about 70 members who are qualified for nominating someone to be a MVP.
 
Maybe the system is fundamentally flawed if you have to be constantly wary of people abusing it.

Indeed. 6 votes is still rediculous. This would require 8% of the total required (based on Mrcer's 70 members). Thats alot actually; while it used to be 0.08% before. Thats 100x harder to get now. Just pointing out 6 votes still might be too much.
