Question about Questions...!!!

I'm not sure this topic below serves the community the best;
[h=3]Questions! Do you have a simple question? Ask it here![/h]and I'll explain why.
This forum is really great at providing very knowledgeable responses to some good questions.
Take the Fishing from pools question near the end of the Questions page 9.
I got curious what was making that topic go 10 pages so I clicked on it and that is a great response!
Now if that would've a separate topic; "Question about fishing from pools" I would've seen and read it immediately.
Now forums are made with restrictions and IF this forum didn't want us ALL to be posting New Topics, it would prohibit that.
Does it really hinder this forum to have a few separate questions listed separately?
I was P2P for 4+ years and so many of you have so much knowledge about this game that I never knew existed and I really appreciate your info,
But WHY do you folks hate seeing people create their OWN topics? Who is it hurting?
If I could get a Logical explanation, I would highly appreciate it.
Ark???

it's not that we don't want people posting new topics but most people here believe that some topics don't need their own threads like a thread asking about a profession or a darkmoon artifact, we have multiple threads on these topics. Of course this is a forum and we need new posts and such but if it's simply a question that can be answered in a sentence or two, then more than likely, it does not need it's own thread. Hence why we are trying to get people to use the questions thread that yde created

Sums it up. Honestly, a good fishing thread with new info and the like is always welcome, but like Klinda said, short questions that only need about 2 sentences to answer really belong in that thread.

I believe the system works naturally, the normal way.

I post a topic that requires a one-word answer, someone answers it, and it drops into the void...

Someone else posts a so-called 'useful' topic and it gets many replies, and stays at the top.

And if there is a 'useful topic' that doesn't get a lot of replies that you want to stay at the top, you sticky it.

Message boards have been around for a long time, and they kind of work pretty well without us 're-inventing' it.

I just read another post by some guy asking a simple question where he gets LAMBASTED for 1. asking a simple question, 2. then being TOLD to use the questions post and he continued to respond in his post... This is getting ridiculous, I'll bet that guy has not posted since then.
Why are you all trying to discourage "EVERYONE" from posting freely here? Since ARK is gone who's the community leader?
You all NEED to Stop this Harassment Immediately! What are you guys 12 and feel Mommy and Daddy control you so you think you need to come in here and control others?
Sorry but that's like the kid who gets beat or harassed his whole life then grows up attacking other smaller people.
this community is better with MORE people NOT less.
This Community is NOT better with because it has the same 10 people the make all the post!

Comments again!!!!! if someone post & asks a question it will eventually vanish! Stop trying to Reinvent the wheel! This is NOT YOUR forum!!!

Ask the owners (people who pay and develop this website) of Twinkinfo.com if they'd rather more or LESS people post here... my guess is the latter... they probably get paid for every post on their website.

We encourage people to create new topics when they have valid questions. We don't support a "ask all questions here" thread and therefore we have not and will not sticky it. If you see any of this so called harassment please report it. There should not be any new users who are discouraged to post new topics with relevant questions.

The question thread is a convenience thread for simple questions.

If you'd rather post a separate thread for your question, then you are free to do so.

Read this post, http://www.twinkinfo.com/f2p-twinking/31567-who-h-f2p-funders-ap.html

Then tell me he is "TOLD" about the questions thread and because he DOESN'T use it and continues his thread REGARDLESS OF HIS NOW IRRITATED responses... is called Stupid!
Now this is a 2 sided sword the guy talking about the "questions" thread may NOT have had his answer but was trying to be helpful (in his eyes)
the the guy gets irritated because he feels don't waist time posting if you're not going to answer the question...
This what I'm talking about.

NOW... IF.... you answer his question and THEN say, JUST FYI there is a thread where you can ask a simple question.... nobody gets PISSED!
If you are so INTENT on people using the Questions thread.... Be Like Arknoodle and place the link in the BOTTOM of your sig and then answer questions normally.

I admire your dedication to trolling. You have accomplished more than most, and gotten under the skin of many.

Your typing strategy is key to this goal. I never thought I'd witness such a terrible way to translate information. Your use of spacing makes it difficult to carry a single thought across, and frustrates the reader before they have a chance to process your trolling itself.

Magnificent.

1. The OP has been updated quite a bit, but in the third reply Shft has quoted the original version. You will notice that there is no call to "ask all questions here" in this thread in either version. Nor is there any attempt made to dictate which questions should go where or what the criteria for creating a new thread should be.

2. The thread is intended to be used by those that want to ask their questions in it. I personally don't want to create new threads just to ask for a link or a short piece of info. If people do not use it, it will drop into oblivion. There is no attempt made at re-inventing forums. I have not asked for a sticky.

3. I have never tried to discourage anyone from posting anything. I am also quite sure that I have never harrassed anyone here, or even posted in a way that could be misconstrued as harassment. If anyone disagrees, I would be grateful if you could point out where I harassed or discouraged anyone. I do not appreciate being included in blanket accusations.

4. All caps writing in forums will usually be read as yelling. I think that a personal opinion will often be better received if the person formulating it does not excessively make use of all caps. Many people dislike the feeling of being yelled at.

5. I haven't read everything that has been posted in the last two weeks, as I have been away. In the threads that I glanced over I did not notice anyone pushing the questions thread in an inappropriate manner. I only noticed Ark, Shft and Mialo politely pointing out its existence.

Still, if the fact that I posted the questions thread has lead to any member, new or old, being harassed, offended and/or emotionally hurt, I am deeply sorry to those people. Please don't feel in anyway discouraged from creating new threads on any topic. I am not a moderator and I will never comment on your thread to question it's validity. If you ask a question that I can answer or that has been answered before, I will provide the answer or the link. But if you have a short or simple question, you are always welcome to ask it in the Ominous Questions Thread of Doom®. :)

It was clear he was referring towards me. However, I must ensure I only have good intensions and certainly don't have the trolling experience as has been shown in earlier posts... If you want an answer you're too lazy for to look up yourself first, atleast be kind enough to help out the people who like to answer, and research in their own free time, your question. Just for free. So, if these kind people ask others to post something in a general thread this shouldn't be seen as provocative or whatever, but more like a way to keep it for them more simple.

I don't mind new topics, but what is so hard to just ask it in a topic specially made and dedicated for it?

The all-purpose questions thread is working out much better than I expected. In particular, I feel that it has spurred people to ask MORE questions and start more discussion than we would have seen otherwise.

As long as people understand that you are not REQUIRED to ask questions in that thread, then I think it's perfectly fine.

First of all, Yde... I am sorry you feel this was intended at you... And if this thread is pissing people off that wasn't my true intentions.
I had intended to point out a few things that were said, but I'm going to stop commenting altogether about it and hope some day that this thread will go away.
I left a PVP server that I long ago paid for 4+years and left my 1st F2P with 2 AGMs that took at least 5 months to acquire to come here and make a toon on AP.
I was invited by Minimexx in a Rand BG that our servers crossed and if I am going to play any game on-line it might as well be with Humans and Not bots.
Although I am twice as old as most of the people in here, I don't mind giving guidance and helping in every way that I can. This community is truly becoming a great community and I honeslty feel that way and I have Not regretted coming here at all. You jabbed me for liking to play on a PVP server... and rightly so, I turned on PVP at the arena and then got camped by an 85 i'd assume, for 15 min. In days of old I'd have logged out after the 2nd kill and came with my Lock and killed him several times until I could switch back and ride away.
I am Not here to upset anyone or get under your skin and I enjoy the community, but unfortunately when I saw a person upset here I felt I had to respond.
Even after 4 + P2P I still learn something new everyday and I do appreciate your info. I do use google/wowhead a ton but sometimes coming here can give better advice. Actually 50% or more of my WoW questions give me a link to these threads.
Thank you to ALL who have answered questions by me for me and for others, thanks to ALL the P2P who party us and help us farm Mageweave or get that last artifact. (ive gotten help with both)
and thanks to the folks who own this website giving us this forum to discuss a game that should be 100% fun and not create anger or hostility to anyone.
Please forgive me for acting like a parent, it's kind of hard not to after doing it for 26 years. I am BTW starting a Pally today... and try to get away from the Hunter a bit...

First of all, Yde... I am sorry you feel this was intended at you... And if this thread is pissing people off that wasn't my true intentions.
No worries. I just wanted to clarify what the Questions thread is, as quite a few people seem to have understood it to be something else entirely.

You jabbed me for liking to play on a PVP server...
No jabbing, I play on a PVP server, too. :D

Also my first fishing tourney on AP was completely nerve-wrecking! It felt really weird not to have the constant possibility of death, even though I haven't actually been killed during the tourney yet, and never been camped.

Ok, just to add one more opinion to this thread. Since the question thread was started, I've always thought it was great for very simple questions such as - 'can horde get the eyepatch'. This is a basic question with a simple answer and so I think it is fine for people to politely redirect the answerer After the question has been answered. However, what really annoys me is
1. When someone is redirected either rudely, or before their question is answered
2. When someone has a question that relies on opinion i.e. What spec should I choose? And they are redirected to the question thread.

For this second point, it annoys me becuase you will get one or two aswers in the question thread max, whereas by making your own thread, you can get 10 or more differing opinions, and it might help people in the future. Just an opinion.

The question thread is not for questions that can have 10 responses, but for questions like: How much honor is 2175 justice points?
