19 Mages - MoP

Legend
I've looked into the 19 mage for MoP, not as extensively as someone like Chill who might be able to theory craft this a lot better than me, but if you check it out, crit stacked fire mages seem the way to go for straight out dps. Don't get me wrong though, I personally would still roll frost haste for cc advantage in premades if there was only one mage.

Arcane spec using the Ice Flow's talent seemed like the best option until I saw how Pyroblast was going to work:

at about 1.45 sec cast, Scorch your target for likely around the 150-200 mark (comparing to Searing Pain)(Could be wrong, don't judge me >.<) with the high chance of ~25% crit chance with professions and being worgen not to mention with the ability to keep mobile.

Pyroblast! with the base cast of 3.5 sec, obviously slightly reduced by haste, would require little stop time to worry about hard casting it anyway with it's slight redesign of "Your direct damage critical strikes have a chance to make your next Pyroblast! instant cast and cost no mana".

Also a nice addition, Regardless of whatever spec you choose, you keep the passive talent, Shatter, which will DOUBLE the critical strike chance of ALL SPELLS, plus an additional 25%. With that being said, 25% base crit, doubled, with an extra 25% is 75% in total, giving you a very high chance of a free Pyroblast.

chardev 9 Here is a Chardev I created with my idea of a best in slot crit set, NON GRANDFATHERED. People with grandfathered items will know what to replace with the given's anyway and most people aren't grandfathered so I suited this better to them. If you feel there could be a better item replacement on this for a Crit stacking set while keeping the hit cap, please let me know your suggestions to edit into the Chardev :).

Edit 1 - Before someone actually picks up on it, +70 armor is on the cloak because as you may or may not have heard, resistances will be abolished with the introduction of MoP, making +70 armor the triumphant choice for cloak enchant.

If Scorch hits for 150-200 and can be cast while moving I doubt the bracket will be playable even by today's standards :(

mmmm, i can finally make my mage a fire mage like i've always wanted to. +20 fire spell to gloves and fire power pots :)

Right now Searing Pain only hits for about 70-100, depending on spellpower and spec. What indication is there that spells' damage will be reworked?

i was hoping someone would make a mage thread and I wanted to look into mages and scorch is gonna be very OP in this bracket... I think it's the mages time to shine :D (DONT underestimate balance druids)

it already has been mages time to shine for a while now haha

EDIT: time to get shinier

All this speculation is killing me. It's almost like going to the forums for an unreleased novel sequel...

OP may not be the word but a lot of classes are getting a few major gains. I think that mages are getting better then locks are and i don't think that hunters are getting much better either

I'm guessing you missed the part where Disengage heals for 15% of health.

Thanks Chill. I will be trying all specs as well just for the sheer fun on how this class is shaping up in MoP :D Arcane seems to be the highest right now, but I'm sure fire will be a strong contender against it. as well as much funner play style.

and Dory, my warlocks Searing Pain is peaking between 120-200 (max being crit) in destro with fire sp to gloves.

why yes i did miss that part... i guess i stand corrected hunters do get better. Hunters can go back to full hp with disengage, a pot and lifeblood. Alright I guess I see what you are saying now.

why does everyone think that 15% heal is the be all end all talent too take, a lot of you underestimate the others
