I was farming the Noxious Whelps today for the Tiny Emerald Whelpling - Item - World of Warcraft. It's a 1 in 1000 drop and I wanted to see how well a level-20 melee (feral) could kill a level-35 mob.
To my surprise, the Sprite Darter Hatchling - Spell - World of Warcraft dropped on the 354th kill. This was unexpected since it is a much rarer zone drop (1 in 8000) that I had not planned on farming.
I particularly like the Sprite Darter because that is one of WoW's druid forms, for those who remember the Tier 0 quest chain in classic.
Anyway, killing lvl-35 mobs is doable for a well-geared lvl-20 melee. I was at about 1000 health (no consumeables) and ran a Rejuvenation HoT during combat, so a better-geared 20 (maybe 1200-1300 hp) could probably get by without healing and eating between pulls.
I did stack some hit and expertise, though.
