There is a limit to prevent abuse, it is necessary so people don't spam like their friends posts. Why is there a limit, generally instead of repeating what has been said in a thread i prefer to like the post i agree with, why is there a limit on this?

Do more likes open up after a certain amount of time? Or how does it work?
I assume they're reset daily, if not let me know. I am unsure of the specifics.
Because people can still view the amount of likes a person has, this could create an illusion for new members looking for guidance. They may see someone with many likes and think they are valuable when in fact they just got their friends to like their posts. In addition to this by limiting the amount of likes you can give they become more meaningful. The likes don't actually DO anything though, and afaik there is no "top likes" list. Why limit them?

Did this actually happen?
