ATTN HORDE - xp turned on by gm after helping with bugged quest!

this might be old news, but i wanted to share this.

on the way to get a bis item in ashenvale, you have to do a quest where you ride a kodo to splintertree post. while i was doing this last night on a new paladin i made, the kodo kept bugging out and getting stuck, and it wouldn't give me credit for finishing when i just ran the rest of the way. so i opened a ticket explaining the situation, hearthed to org after a few games, and logged out.

just now when i got on, i had a ticket response saying that the quest is known to be bugged, and that they had given me quest credit and ported me to the turn in guy.

i turned in the quest and BAM LEVEL 20. they had turned my fucking xp back on.

talking to a GM now but it looks like all they will do for me is to unbind my boe's and give me free time on my acct. they keep saying that it's impossible to delevel a toon even though i have heard of it happening before, but i don't want to really push since it was a new toon and i'm not totally invested in it.

just wanted to give a heads up to anyone doing that quest who has to get GM help to make it work. recheck that your xp is still off before turning in!
 
At least they were accommodating with transferring the gear. Does this mean you can double up on any of the quest gear you had transferred?
Not that I'm looking to exploit :p but this would be a good alternative to people who pay for a faction change to double up on stuff.
 
well i initially told them about my boes and how hard they were to find and that they were expensive, and asked if they could be unbound so i could just mail them to a new toon. so they said something along the lines of "oh they aren't quest items are they?" and to be honest i didn't even think about asking them to xfer my ring, totally kicking myself right now. but what they ended up having me do is make the new toon, then they mailed the stuff to it. sigh.

they don't delevel toons...that is correct, however they have had this happen to players before and usually what they do is have you roll another toon, they transfer the items to that toon and you delete the 20.

they may also warn you that if you are reported per say with a level-10 (for example) with items a player at higher levels could only have, they will delete that player and more than likely ban you.

also don't lock XP and get items for a level-20 and then request this to be done, they are keen to do in the US.....EU seems to get away with it, but not us in the US.

as for the quest in ashenvale, i had same thing happen, i abandoned it after getting bugged/stuck. and worked second time

You were lucky they unbound your BoEs.

It seems very random on whether or not your XP gets turned back on after GM assistance.
 
Old 19 rogue with Shadowfang and Assassins blade was hacked and leveled, the GM that was handeling my case wouldn't even unbind those items.

I'd be pretty greatful. Also gives you the chance to second guess a racial / name.

What section should I choose while making a ticket about this? "I lost or deleted something in game and wish to recover it" or something else?
 
I always hate hearing these stories. I hope everything turns out for the better in the end.

My previous 19s that got leveled allowed me to experience different brackets and meet new people. In the end the pros outweighed the cons in my opinion.
 
i hear the 24 braket is a great bracket you should see how you like it. id suggest 29s but sadly they are dead :( RIP 29s
