80 general questions

    • I'm sure this has been asked before, but I wanted to get an idea of what the current state of things are like:

    How frequently do 80-84 BGs pop and which ones? Does everyone go 84 or is the majority at 80 to take advantage of scaling like in the 70 bracket (I only have WotLK so I'm kinda stuck at 80 one way or another)?

    Also, another off-the-wall question, is Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings (Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings - Item - World of Warcraft) BiS for any healing classes, or has it become completely useless now that mastery is the new fad?

    80 is legit. A lot of pops, majority 80s

    I would not say valanyr is bis....but it's not completely useless either. 10% proc chance for 15 sec w/ 45sec ICD

    What's "a lot" mean? Like 19, 24, 70 pops pretty much 'round the clock. When in the context of an unpopular bracket, "a lot" is like twice a week. lol

    And damn about the val'anyr. During my hiatus from WoW I kept up with the patch notes just to see what was becoming of the game in my absence, and when yogg'saron and all that stuff came I was like, "damn, when I get back to WoW, I'm getting that pimp orange mace." Of course I didn't end up coming back until just last month, so perhaps I waited a bit TOO long. Sounds like it's not pimp anymore.
     
    5-10 minute queues. Val'anyr might be good for Disc Priests if the effect gains a bonus from their mastery.
     
    Val'anyr was good only when some classes (namely Holy paladins) did not gain that much from a SP increase (the gain from gear was enough), so the proc was crazy good. Since the cataclysm revamp, and the fact that two things are available to cata twinks (power torrent and a weapon with 500 more SP than Val'anyr), it's only for vanity. You'd heal well, but not as well as if you had the 308 blue. Pity, it was fun back in the day.
     
    it would be fun with some classes, for instance a holy pally b/c it would mean putting 2 shields on a target. same with disc (even if it doesnt stack w/ mastery). and for anything else it would still have some use but the time/effort to farm it compared to the cata maces ease of attaining&stats does make val sort of situational/fun item
