Tumultuous Cloak Question

I am want the "Tumultuous Cloak of the Sorcerer" or even "of Stamina" for my priest twink. So far I have run around 70 random instances without seeing either. I have seen every other kind of cloak and belt multiple times each.



RNG's a *****, but I though I might as well ask if anyone knows if there is something weird that might be happening. Do some cloaks only drop from randoming certain instances or something?







(On the upside I have two Firebelchers and a set of Mindthrust Bracers--as well as some Darkweave Breachers, which are less interesting. If a Magician's Mantle dropped for me it might even be worth it.)
 
The best thing to do is que up with a lower level person(have a p2p group you) so that you only have to do RFC instead of WC/Deadmines/SFK

This is a great idea! I actually have two old accounts with 7 days free on them. But are you sure it will not just put us both in WC or SFK?

The random satchel loot is the worst part of F2P, next to LFH.



I had to run 130 randoms on my Hpal to get Sorc cloak. Bandit seems to drop most frequently on all my chars, followed by Soldier.



If you want to be efficient (and after you've done over 300 of them, as I have, you just want things to go quickly) is to gear up a prot War (sig), and queue with a lvl 15 or 16. Keep in mind, the 15 or 16 will now gain XP and satchels if they are outside of the instance and the party completes the random. You can either XP cap them to avoid this, or rotate 15's....get into an RFC or DM, keep those PUGs till they ding 17, then boot them out or split. A fully geared Prot war can effectively solely RFC in 3 mins (Blood and Thunder + Vengeance DPS goes up to 200, with Victory Rushes accounting for nearly all healing needs) and DM in 10 mins.
 
I never stress out too much about getting the perfect cloak/belt on my toons because you either get it eventually or find a good enough substitute. First the pvp capes are pretty good and cheap. There's also pretty good dungeon drops or quests. For a priest I would suggest the Feyscale Cloak from WC or if you're alliance Stitches' Stitchings.
 
Is VC really all that fast? Also, as a healer I found it incredibly painful to try and do randoms with random lowbies. It's fine on paladin since I can solo them, but as a healer it's really quite frustrating. Even if you tell the melee not to kill themselves on the first boss of WC's thorns, they still do it every single time. Apparently I'm supposed to use all my mana to preserve their 20 DPS.



As far as satchel loot goes, the rarest is battle, and I have literally never seen it drop. Not that it matters, since I consider soldier superior, but if you are trying to max out strength, then it could be useful. Just keep trying until you find it.

This is why you have each character on a seperate account, so you can do runs with your tank while your healer follows AFK.
 
Yes, but as F2P you need to group them, and if you have people to group you, you probably have decent people to group with. I'm assuming the OP and most people here are doing it solo. I agree though, there are a number of advantages to multiple accounts. I use them all the time, but I don't group them very often.
 
Update: I did essentially what Mrcer suggested.



I used 7 days free play that Wow offers people to try to get them to resubscribe that I had on an old acount I used for boxing a couple of years ago. I made a character on my twink's server, leveled him to 15, and started quing. (Linen Cloth sells for at least 10g a stack on the server, so it was easy to get the 10g to lock him in at level 10). I qued as DPS (even though the level 15 was warrior) so I could quit him out immeditately without disrupting the group. On my third run, got the "Tumultuous Cloak of the Sorcerer"; just about fell out of my chair.



Definitely not going for the stamina cloak as well, haha. At least I have 9 Grimoires and three Eggs for the next few DMFs.



Quing once for FRC (non-random) and then getting those 15/16s to reque with you for randoms is ******* genius though. Will certainly try that if I run into the same problem again. (Although I have another old boxing account and my old main account that have 7 days sitting around.) One othe tip, don't necessarily believe Blizzard when they say that you have to use the 7 days free play by a certain date--the email I used offering 7 days was said it expired in March of last year.

Every account gets 7 day trial now...but it's limited to once per account (for the life of that account.)
 
I've also gotten ten day Cat trials, twice, as well as the seven days. This was when the account was LK only. I'm expecting them to do something similar with pandas. You can also get a scroll of res sent to you once every three months, but there's a limit of three of those per account. Plenty of ways to get free time. Also, once you have this free time, many servers have people that sell game time for gold if you really don't want to pay but still want to play the full game, you can.

Yes, it used to be 3 times for a scroll of res, looks like they're changing it to once now. Probably the fact that accounts now only cost $5 was the deciding factor for this.
 
Since when are accounts $5? Still $20 after the Winter's Veil deal expired.
