Check ah often, buy any of them under 500g that are Bis or used as place fillers, such as thorbias gauntlets, dark weave breaches, etc. Also dont forget to look for certain rare green items that could be used with certain sets, such as scouting armor, meadow rings, etc. Trust me just buying them of ah is much faster than farming them. If you have a 2nd account u could also try setting a character in deadmines where the npc spawns that drops foremans legs/gloves and farming him, those items are BIS, and you could either give them to guildies, or sell them for a discount price, and use the gold to help the guild.
I would look up guides and find all the boe gearz needed for bis sets for every class and stock up on them, and encourage new guildies to check this site and not take shortcuts, BIS is BIS, no fang gloves and stuff like that. Set up a vent if ya dont have one, keep a tab open with stocked rumsey rum, and if need be even run new guildies for gear that is needed.
If you have plenty of gold, try advertising that you can fund well known decent players who xfer or re-roll on your server. This can start up the guild quickly, and make it well known for having some decent players and not just a bunch of new ones. And one of the more important things....getting the agm on your server. Is it hard or easy? Do players need to get it before they come to your server? If not, do you have a decent main, and/or freinds who can help kill achievment whores and let your guildies loot the chest?
Theres alot of factors that could come into play when trying to resurrect or create a twinking guild. I tried to make on on my server, I had a gbank full of boe's and rumsey. I even advertised it in trade chat, but my server is full of lvl 85 dragon slayers who hate pvp. And getting agm is next to impossible unless you have a ton of gold to buy off the 10+ 85's who do auctually pvp, and show up every single time the chest spawns. ( And have glad titles and stuff and top gear).
I managed to get about 4 peaple to join my guild, 2 hunters, a warrior, and a pally. They all got bis gear except for agm and never logged back on again.
