Enh vs. resto shaman ?

I'm leveling a Tauren Shaman , but having a really difficult time deciding whether to spec enh or resto. It'd be great if people could offer opinions as to advantages/disadvantages on each to help me decide. I can't decide right because basically because i already have a ret pally and am a bit bored being kited as melee, but have leveled an enh before and found it to be very fun. Respeccing ele during AB is also a factor

and no rolling both is not an option atm. thanks!

I'll agree with you, leveling as enh is fun but at 20 and as horde, it's really hard to play as with so many Hunters around. You gain more survivability as Resto and can kill many 1v1 that aren't hunters.

Elemental has the highest skill cap out of the 3 specs.

Pre-BiS enhance is complete garbage, but once you've gotten all possible gear to create that perfect BiS twink, they're pretty damn good.

Agreed. I play an Enhancement Alliance side and even though I am still missing my Weapons I can survive or even kill a lot of classes 1vs1. I have been able to kill many pallies and mages as Enhancement, but again Im Alliance.

enhance at 20 suffers because it doesnt have instant gw. if it did IMO it would be the best 1v1 spec, but it doesnt so I rate it at a slightly-above-meh out of 10

Enhancement is REALLY fun. Resto is stronger for BG's and more user friendly but I found it rather boring. Spamming healing surge just isn't as fun as smashing something across the face with a hammer covered in lava. Enhance can compete with any class 1v1, except a skilled hunter. Lava Lash actually hits pretty hard now, and when BiS, you should see crits near 500. I recommend playing resto, but getting the essential enhancement quest items and BGing as R until you can get a mcgowan to put OffHand and then switch over. If you find you don't like Enh, just keep playing resto. Rsham is very flexible with gear and is viable even if you took some enh quest items. Enh on the other hand, is extremely gear dependent, particularly with weapons.

Agreeing with Earl - resto gets really boring - even when it is efficient in BGs. Enhance is really strong with pocket heals - I know I know who isn't.

Questing/Grinding with resto is mind numbing - shitty offense. Granted you can pull many mobs but it takes way too long to kill.

Or mages. Can't fight the kite!

I love playing resto in bgs. It's versatile and fun to play. Healing can get a bit boring, spamming healing surge left and right. What I love the most is its great utility. You can strip a priest/pally naked of magic buffs like kings, bubbles, fortitude, shields, hots, other shaman's ghost wolf form and what not. Purging all those down, will make your dps kill the target so very fast it's not even funny. Don't forget the range interupt which is priceless.

As a resto shaman I am most exposed to skilled rogues and hunters. Any other class you can be sure you have nothing to be afraid of. You have all the instruments to either defeat them or run away unharmed.

I've never tried enhance, but I've seen some impressive bursts from the few enh shammies I've encountered so far.

I just rolled an Enhancement Shaman, finally finished gearing him and am working on AGM 6/12 and BOA's.

Enhancement Shaman is THE DEFINITION of a glass cannon in this bracket.

Cons:

-There will be times where you will be completely shut down by rogues

-There will be times where a Hunter will 2-3 Shot you. And This isn't your generic exaggerated Hunter Flaming Twinkinfo hunter statement, Hunters will literally kill you, in 2-3 shots. Sometimes before you even notice it happens.

-You really have to time your healing surges, it will heal between 200-250 // 300-350, The problem is your lack of armor. You really have to anticipate the kind of damage your enemy can put out burst wise, or you'll heal too late and you're dead.

Pros:

-You will completely **** on any caster/healer. With the exception of Nineteen, the only good warlock. And that's only if you don't catch him off guard first.

-You deal about as much damage a hunter, you just have to be in range which is the issue with this bracket.

-Excellent peels. You'd be surprised of how many people don't take the 2 seconds to kill an earthbind totem.

-Surprisingly graceful off heals, Better than Ret Paladin off heals because if you OOM, none of your damaging attacks/spells use more than 50 mana. You'll bounce back to 40% mana in no time. It doesn't hamper you physically useless or defenseless afterwards.

Your ideal situation is to be running with your flag carrier at all times, because if your team has it's **** straight it's running your flag carrier with a healer (as obvious as this statement may seem, sadly this isn't how it always goes). You'll be able to keep people off your FC, and destroy anyone around with the support for your Carrier and Healer. Given the proper team support, Enhancement Shaman is a force to be reckoned with. You'll also have to accept that you'll be spend an exceptional amount of time in the graveyard, but that's okay if you're here to have fun, which is what Enhancement Shaman is, Fun.

I doubt I'll be playing my other toons any time soon since I rolled this little guy

Favorite, Most badass feeling EN Sham moment of mine thus far: Faith picked up the flag, dropped her to 40% health, she bubbles and starts to heal, Wind Shear, Earth Shock, Lava Lash for 500 damage and I drop her. All while she was bubbled. I just imagine the rarity of Enhancement Shamans in this bracket, and how she must have been like "WTF HAX" while I tore her to pieces.

I've been saying this for months, welcome aboard. Also, you can't bubble with the flag, breh.

i agree on some of the statements u made about 20 shammys, however ppl your all missing out here shamans are truley OP at this bracket mostly enhance, in premade situations my team runs enhance for the burst wind shear and purges.. now yes every spec shammy has shear and purge, but... not every spec has the reliable dmg that enhance has and with coordination and good synergy there is no defence a good offense cant bring down with enhance shammys doing good dps on the healers straight up cuz no healer is safe from a shaman, think about it. i wanna see more smarter offenses run in with enhance shamans!!!! :p androlleck - Team ahoy emerald dream also id like to state that we recruit trials for pug premades all the time and were looking to pug premade soon reply back if interested. fyi, were ally

Do you like healing? Then play resto.

Do you like killing? Then play enh.

That's really all there is too it. Idk why we have huge walls of text <3

What up guys. I'm new to the f2p community and this site (first post) and am looking forward to getting into the swing of things here soon. I've rolled an enh shammy to play with a few friends, but they fell off already and I'm still here so... I had some experience twinking when I was p2p (wotlk and before) and it was always what interested me most in wow. Check out my toon, he's not done yet but soon eh? In the mean time I look forward to seeing all of you on the battlefield!
