The Aerie Peak F2P Tournament

Ok, so I see that Spirestone is considering a tournament for 24s, and I've been considering something like this for a week or so, their thread reinforced the thought.

I want to host a tournament on Aerie Peak for the 20s. I would like your input on other ideas in addition to mine, and we can decide then which to do.

Here is basically my idea:
  • Dueling tournament somewhere easily accessable to both alliance and horde (perhaps near gurubashi).
  • You will /roll 1-1000, and be paired off by who rolled closest to you. (Unless I figure out a better way to randomly pair everyone).
  • It is best 2 out of 3, the loser receives a "strike".
  • After you have received 3 "strikes", you're out.
  • Nobody will ideally play more than 3 opponents (need to figure out a way to make that happen).
  • After half of the competition has been eliminated, the game changes.
  • 2s tournament with the remaining competitors, with the teams randomly picked (same way as opponents were).
  • The matchups will then be determined in the same manner, and it will again be best 2 out of 3. This time, you lose, you're out.
  • Once we have a single team remaining, they are back to dueling. The two victors will do best 3 out 5 dueling, with the winner being declared the King (or Queen) of AP.
  • Some sort of reward will be worked out, although this is difficult since only the p2ps can trade. Perhaps something along the lines of me running you through dungeons on one of my mains to get you a new geared 20, and the ambassador title.

What do you guys think? Suggestions/input please.

A good reward would be one Gurubashi trinket. Obviously you can't gaurantee it, but if you show up with a couple 85s it shouldn't be that difficult or time consuming to obtain 1/12 from the chest.

The reward should be everybody /worship the winner, and tell why their stupid, also great idea

I could get some guys from Legacy to help an alliance winner, idk about horde though. I think people would enjoy a new twink more than 1/12 trinket though. Seems like more of a reward, imo. Or both

any other ideas, or comments/suggestions for my tournament idea?

Hrm, I like the idea of teaming in a way, but I dont think it should be completely random cause some people might just get unlucky and get a horrible comp. Just my two cents, but good idea

You're right, it's a possibility. However if you're confident in your abilities to play, this shouldn't bother you too much.

As well as the overall winner, a best class winner might be good too. I really can't imagine even the best warrior being able to beat a decent paladin 1v1 and there are some other pretty terrible rock paper scrissors combinations too.

Gonna start making a list of everyone who wants in.

Yeah.. and what classes are restricted? Because sorry otherwise this is going to be hunters vs prot paladins the whole way down.

No classes are restricted. As I said, you get 3 chances at dueling, and get to do best 2 out of 3 with each opponent. If you cant win with those odds, you don't deserve to, just sayin. I'll be on either a priest or mage, and I'm not concerned with possibly facing 3 hunters. Oh and don't worry I'll be using the f2p set I'm working on, I'm just bracers away from it being complete, so my p2p enchants won't be a factor.

This whole idea is shitty. Just terrible. Class IS greater than skill in this bracket no matter how much you say it isn't. No amount of rng is going to allow my balance druid to win vs any priest, any paladin, any hunter, any mage, any shaman, or any feral druid. I also don't think I should have to tell anyone that duels != skill
