I’ve experimented with the Restoration spec on my Shaman for quite some time and it’s quite obvious that our heals aren’t nearly as great Paladins or Priests. Although, the spec does contain some viable perks such as
Earth Shield. The talents are also very neat. Ancestral Resolve (
reduces damage taken by 10% while casting) 2/2, Spark of Life
(Increases your healing done by 6% and
your healing received by 15%), and Focused Insight (After casting any shock spell, your next heal’s mana cost is reduced by 25% of the cost of the Shock spell,
and its healing effectiveness is increased by 10%).
In my opinion, I find Restoration to be better than Elemental for FCing. You aren’t as weak as Resto as you are as Elemental(see bold above).
Though, as Restoration, your damage is just awful. I would only recommend going Restoration strictly for FCing. If you’re one of those people that likes to do damage but will commit to FCing only when they have to then I would stay Elemental.
I’m probably going to get a response like; “Why wouldn’t you stay Elemental for Thunderstorm while FCing?â€. As great of a defensive ability as this is, kiting is far better superior than making a stand for it on the roof and relying on not only your positioning but your opponents. I would only stay on roof and make a stand for it only if your odds are greater. Also, while kiting as Restoration, the self-heals come in handy.
All in all, Restoration is really only good for FCing and should never be specced into for healing your own team. (Although you can try
). I’ve tried healing as Restoration in my perfect crit set and I constantly got 500-600 crits which wasn’t that bad. If you wan’t to be useful to your team in the healing department, I would suggest rolling anything but a Shaman, like a Paladin, Priest, etc. until mop of course.
