Rolling a healer!

  • Theres quite a high demand for good 70 healers on my realm, so I figured I'd roll a new one
    <

My first ever 70 twink was a hpala, it was pretty fun to play, and I did well. It later on came to be my first 80/85
    <

Now I'm going to make a new 70, but not sure what I should roll..

I could go fotm and go priest..

I could remake my 70 hpala..

or I could gear up my 70 sham, although I don't enjoy playing it, tbh.

Most would say roll what you enjoy playing, but I'm really not sure what I would enjoy atm.

Priests look fun to play, what with all the utility, but I'm also tied with a paladin and nostalgia.

    Opinions?

As someone who has one of each here is my take.

    At 70.

    Shaman=Priest>Pali=Druid

    For Priests -

Pros: Bubbles and Mana Burn just dominate. Reasonable damage output. Several mana regen moves. Nice pvp set Bonus.

Cons: If you are forced to heal a lot its the easiest class to go OOM on. Doesn't function well on low mana.

    Shaman-

Pros: Good passive healing with earth shield. Decent damage. Great general defenses. Good regen. Amazing dispells/purge. Actually my favorite healer.

Cons: Mobility can be an issue in my experience.

    Pali-

Pros: Best damage output of a healer. You can solo burst people down if they don't stay on you. Great large heals and can function on virtually 0 mana. Good mobility.

Cons: Very vulnerable to silences and stuns because of lack of passive healing. Better in 2's than 3's because of this imo. Mana regen abilities suck.

    Druid-

Pros: Great healing output. if you go 74 cyclone is amazing. Good passive healing. Unstoppable is tree form.

Cons: Squishy....very squishy.....when not in tree. Poor damage output other than thorns.

Theres my thoughts. For me personally I prefer playing shaman and druid in bg's. Just more interesting to play.

I'd suggest going priest/paladin. Why? Both of them are doing more than well in both arenas and battlegrounds. Also both classes can go dps, in case of you get bored of healing or wish to try something else. I can't speak for shaman because I've not played one before. But I do have a rdruid, never make one. Any dps with half brain can kill you without problems. My druid is nearly BiS res stacked and still gets killed during DF/stun with barskin up. As mentioned before, druid healing style isn't ideal for bursty lvl 70 bracket and on top of that you lack cyclone.

BiS? every mage I face who deep me when I instantly pop barkskin do about 4-5k damage in that deep freeze.

I'm lacking 2nd profession, using cloth legs from SWP because the leather ones just wont drop and...that's pretty much it.

As I haven't ever had a priest, and I'll be playing with a paladin anyway, I'll be rolling a priest. Thanks for the help guys, and thanks for the detailed post Waffle.

Just curious, can you still enchant BoA gear, like staves and crap, I haven't ever used much BoA due to being a 60/70 twink before reaching endgame level, so idk if the ilevel used to scale with level and now it doesn't..

I'd like to get some cloth boa before I level the priest.

    Thanks again!

Yes you can still enchant BoA's with chants that do not have a lvl requirement (shoulder chants of most kinds can be put on but won't become active till you reach required lvl). Not sure about the ilvl thing.

Aight sweet, any ideas about some good proffs to level while I level?

Plan on doing eng, because 60+ its wicked, not too sure about the low levels, I'd imagine theres some good goggles..

But I can't think of another proff thats good for pvp or dungeons during the low levels.

    I hope you're joking.

OMG! You mean people have opinions that are occasionally different than your own?

    Shocker.

Whats even more humerus is that you insist on disagreeing without actually saying what you disagree with so I could say why I believe it is so. You know....how mature adults discuss things....but meh.....can't have everything I suppose. I am willing to defend everything I said in my post. Say what you disagree with....and I will gladly prove you wrong on every count.
