Why does Shadowpanther rate Herbalism > Engineering for PvP @ 70?

  • First off, in case you guys don't know, Shadowpanther.net is the #1 guide to Rogue gear at any level, and I'd recommend anyone ever playing a Rogue to check it out.

Now, on topic. SP lists Herbalism as 5 AEP above Engineering, stating that 480 Haste/2 min CD is better than Tazik Shockers. Just wondering, is Herbalism/Engineering truly the best combination for a Rogue? What do you guys think?

Also, if you plan on looking at the site for gear, remember that @ 70 it doesn't take set bonuses into account, so it's maximizing for stats only. 4 PC Slayer and 4 PC Brutal is best.

It must not take gems in to account, either, cuz 5p brutal is def not best.

That alone invalidates the site's usefulness for 70 rogue gearing.

    Actually it's not even 480 haste anymore, it's 240.

Sorry I meant 4 PC Brutal. Wasn't the site saying that, was me.

The 70 Rogue gearing, like I said, only shows STANDALONE BiS gear. If you use the site to gear you get the most AEP but not the best set bonuses.

Is this still BiS? It's from the sticky.

I am not at all a fan of that chardev. For starters, sunwell pants and gloves would give a net gain of 5 gem slots. Shoulder gems also confuse me.

Most 'bis' rogues you see in-game are going to run way less resilience than what is in that chardev.

what they are recommending is for 85's, not 70's

don't know about 85 rogues, but i did a haste based 70 rogue, and yeah the rogue attacked fast, but energy regen was overall not noticeable and it was like hitting players with a foam sword equipped.

haste imo was a great lie that blizz sold since WOTLK when it comes to melee players...including hunters. haste benefits casters that's about it. a mage or bal druid can stack haste cause their spells are strong to begin with

neva liked shadowpanther at all i has 3 rogues and not found use for the site once lol

just the stats difference for immortal night pants vs slayers pants gives a higher net gain then shooting for the 4pc, do the math yourself. back in TBC sure the 4pc was killer as hell rocking +12 agi gems and when agi only gave a 1 - 1 conversion, but now? it doesnt even compare.
