I'm making a 70 hunter!

I have been leveling him right, going nice and slow. He's level 40 right now, and i just turned of Exp to farm some city rep, and level my professions. He's on The Venture Co, and his name is Tour (if anyone wanted to say hi). I have Engineering and Mining and my 4 secondary skills pretty matched at around 175, except for First Aid which is almost 300. I have been working on my Achievement points too, spent a long time doing Darkmoon fair stuff, and have 86 tickets for this first week. Oh, and he's human.

I got exalted with Darnassus first for the amazing looking mounts, and working on IF now.

I was just creating this thread to introduce myself, and maybe ask for a few tips for the 70's bracket, as this is my first time! Is there anything i need to pick up or do along the way of leveling?

Thank you for reading, and hey!

Hey, welcome to the bracket!

Only things I can suggest doing while you level up is getting enough honor to at least get brutal gear/weapons when you hit 70, saves doing it when you hit 70 and your still in blues.

Theres a few really good hunters on TI, whom I'm sure can give you a few class specific tips.

Thank you! Yeah i was doing a bit of BG's, have like 500 honor right now, will definitely work on that along the way
<
If only 40-44 exp off was populated, i could do it while farming!

Welcome to the bracket!

Hunters are very fun in Battlegrounds, however they can be killed very easily. (Something you have to master I guess)

Hope to see you around soon!

Why are the easily killed? Because of the lack of healing abilities? I'm hoping to do BG's with Hero soon, (my brother is in the guild and that's why i'm rolling a 70) So i shouldn't have to worry to much, as i will be rolling with a group

Oliks, what do you mean? I can cap HP before 70, but i can't get Justice Points before that can i? Well, i can get them at 60+ right?

Hunters die easily because we usually stack agi and less resil, aswell as no deterence. Hunters are VERY fun, im glad ur leveling one

We lack Master's call, Our Get-this-goddamn-rogue-off-me-oh-god-he-burns Ability. And deterrence, Our mobile mini-ice block, The former which is learned at 74, The latter, at 78.

Best bet would be to get as many offensive stats as possible, While not completely avoiding resilience, Even with 15-30%, You could be literally insta-gibbed by rogues, But with enough Offensive capability, Only class that should *really* give you trouble in battlegrounds is decent rogues, And of course, Something with an epic butt-ton of resilience, And can heal, ie; Shadow priest.

Few quick things, For a hunter in the bracket. Do not, get a spider. They are cunning, and cannot access http://www.wowhead.com/spell=53480 (RoS), Our second defensive cooldown, Along with disengage. Snag a tenacity pet, Preferably a crab (4 Second root), Or a scorpid (10 Second disarm), Plus access to Roar of sacrifice, As your pet is mainly for support, Disarms, RoS, Pin, Wasting grounding totems, Etc, etc. The tiny bit of bonus damage a Ferocity pet, or cunning pet would do, can be skipped. As an offensive hunter, you should aim to kill something before your pet will even get in range.

Next couple things, Weapon chain, Grab a titanium one. Cop a disarm if you are a non-bm spec, and you are literally useless for 10 seconds.

Tuskarrs, 8% Movement speed increase, upto 108% Speed without anything else, Does not stack with Cheetah, Plus the bit of stamina helps.

Spell penetration, As it stands, Several of our abilities are magic-based, Namely Ice cube trap, Chimera shot, Arcane shot, And explosive shot. Some races, (Dwarves for frost, Gnomes/blood elves for arcane, Night elves/Tauren for nature, Worgen for nature/shadow, and forsaken/draenei for shadow.) get resistance points at a 1:1 level/point ratio, So at 70, they'll have Proximately 28.57% Resistance to that school of magic, 'Cept worgen, they have slightly less in both, Can't recall the exact values. Point being, You need at least 35 Spell pen to get through Motw/kings, And 70 to get through racials, (which don't stack with motw/kings, but do stack with gear/enchants).

^ Long story short, No spell pen, Huge chunks of your 'Splosive shot, Chimera shot, Arcane shot, And other magic-based abilities, can be resisted. And ice cube trap completely resisted. So, Get at the minimum, 35 Spell pen.

Also aim for at the very least, 5% hit, A bit more if you'd like to cap hit for 71s-74s, It should be covered by gear, or weapon chain. But at the very least, 5%.

My current setup; http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/thrall/Eso/advanced

Only things that come to mind, i'll edit the post if i recall anything else. Zzzz tired Zzzz

In BG's I've noticed hunters tend to do very really when they're in strong groups, if you can get a group of friends in BG's then you can probably afford to go all out with like pve gear and little resil.

As a mage I know that hunters can blow me up, although I don't have any resil, a 14k~ aimed shot is still amazing.

Aye, As with arena, a hunter almost *has* to roll with a priest. Rogues are also great as well, Peel stuff off you, Or hold stuff still, and in the open, while you blow it up.

Aye, have had some 22k or so Aimed shot, Had berserker in EoTs, Caught some 0-resilience Human arcane mage, Also had 2/2 Rapid killing up. 22k Aimed plus chimera, which didn't even hit. Don't think there was even a skid mark left of him.
<

Haha, thats what I mean.

I've seen some very high rated hunter/priest combo's in 2s, and I'm sure they work very well with priest/mage in 3s.

Good luck, Twinkz!

Wow, thank you so much. That is extremely helpful, and i'm glad i was able to get a quality hunter to help with the process!

My bro is actually pretty new in Hero, he's just the one that got me interested in joining. He's Lightarmor.

I had a question. I'm not to used to the new systems since this is my first time back in a while. How does the rep system work for the city tabards? I heard that once you start doing BC dungeons, you don't get the tabard rep for the main cities like SW and IF, is this correct? Because this is the main reason why i turned XP off.

? thought u said ur bro was vert dah mage, who left nc, guess not ;(

jus twas saying you have plenty of pocket heals to run with

Burning crusade instances don't offer 'Champion' rep, if you wear a tabard, Seeing as most of the instances, if not all of them, Already grant some form of reputation, Cenarion expo', Lower city, Etc. You'll need to run Vanilla instances, or possibly Wotlk-grade instances, for reputation. I just did stratholme, Got rep slowly while i was farming the Deathcharger.
<

Oh ok, but since it's a lower level, you get less rep right? Right now i'm getting 17-19 rep a mob, and a few hundred a boss. So i should just stay a low level and get all my champion rep up

It's up to you, You should get about that much rep from the 68-70 Wotlk-grade instances, Like utgarde keep. Wouldn't really worry about reputation, but hey, it's upto you. I got all mine back when it was cloth hand-in's.

Fyi, I think its about 4k rep per run in UK. If you get a group of 70 twinks you could do it really really quickly.
