advice on farming rare mounts?

I'd like to start a farm for one of the three world drop rare mounts: gray camel, aeonaxx, and time lost. i see that a shit load of people have them, so any advice? such as, can a hunter reasonably solo time lost, how did you get your 70 close enough to where aeonaxx lands to be able to loot him, since he flies way faster than mount speed, etc.

well.. a friend of mine camped the place where aeonaxx was and had an addon/alarm clock that went apeshit when the dragon spawned and so he tabbed out and waited..



took him weeks to get it

the addon your friend was using is _npcscan which is the best addon in the world imo. my particular concern about aeonaxx is that once mounted, it flies faster than mount speed, so a 70 would have a hard time keeping up with the 85 who is killing it. so how are you getting your twinks close enough to the body to be eligible to loot it? does the body always land in the same place or something, so you get there ahead of time? i would most likely be playing my roommate's 85 to kill the dragon, so it seems like it would be hard to keep both toons in the same area that way.
 
What I did, was to camp it on my own 85 on a 2nd acc, then when it spawned I jumped on it, tabbed and logged onto my 70, did /who deepholm and got someone to guild summon me for 200g (lol), invited myself, (In the meantime of doing all this I tab back on my 85 on Aeonaxx's back to kill the small drakes that spawn).



I put my 70 just infront of the entrance to the temple, then sat there waiting.

Tabbed onto my 85, started killing aeonaxx, then kept him on very low HP till he flew near the entrance where I had my 70 waiting, and then I finished it off (killed the spawning drakes every time they spawned).



The drakes only have like 9k hp and spawn like once every 10-15 seconds



Edit: and for your TLPD you can easily solo it as hunter. I solod it as mage and the only tricky part is the resisting of spells, however thats not an issue with hunters.



Grey camel is simply finding it on ur 85 (or ur friend or whoever you pay ofc), have the 85 summon you, then he kills it, loots it and trades it to you within the next 2 hours.





- Ofcourse if you don't have an 85 on a 2nd acc to help you get these, you're going to have to explain to whoever is helping you all of this very carefully so they understand

Hi Dimsal, I'm just curious about your soloing TLPD as mage, I haven't been fortunate enough to encounter it yet, but I did find the other rare dragon spawn that spawns instead of tlpd and decided to take that on, test whether or not I could even kill tlpd.. I found it absolutely impossible to even hit the beast.



Is TLPD different or do you have a crap ton of hit?

I did not have any extra hit, I killed Vyragosa probably 50 times before I found TLPD, I just used my mirrors to tank it while spamming, most resisted but when I eventually hit, it did quite some damage, (his HP is just like 18,6k).

You could ofcourse try to obtain some extra hit, or if you have the extra honor, buy an additional PvP set, reforge, gem and enchant it with hit.
 
That's really strange, I did have quite a bit of hit, 30%~ but missed like crazy..

Another thing about TLPD though.

When you find him, make sure you pull him to a safe location. Don't panic and pull him down where he is if he is around other mobs, because if you get more mobs on you then you're pretty much screwed.

It was very easy to kill, it does like no damage.

Congratulations.



Been spending a couple hours a week farming it since Wrath. Have seen it killed three times in front of me, And had it spawn, i frantically tryed to find it, Had it targeted, and somebody killed it, instantly. It's body fell *through* me, Didn't occur to me to actually look up.

I suggest just going all out over 1-2 days, leave cpu on with npcscan, run like hell when it alerts you
<




Also, depending on how many people on your realm are camping spawns, if theres very few, camp the four path spot that tlpdresource.com shows.
