Fishing Hat

Is it still available to get? I have a tiny amount of interest in this, but if the hat is still obtainable isnt that like half a level 20's HP in F2P?

I don't think it's half hp no. But it is an option for a slot with not a lot of options and yes it's still obtainable.

Not necesarrily half but its a pretty large chunk. Yes its definetly possible but its a luck thing. Not everyone gets it right away and it could take you weeks. If you keep at you WILL eventually get it.

Cool, Ive never fished before so I really appreciate the info!

Source: Look at how many people have it. If you don't get what I am saying, you didn't play 19s ever, and you don't need a source.

I've known ppl who been fishing for years to get their LFH back in Pre-BC through WotLK and still didnt get it. When the shattering came out everyone started getting LFH all of the sudden.

So yeah, I agree. The drop rate got buffed.

I'll see your 2nd hand observation and raise you my own experience:

preBC I did the tourney 4 times:

1st = win

2nd = win + 1 rare fish

3rd = 2nd rare fish (with less than 20 Tasty fish and stopped fishing)

4th = 3rd rare fish (with less than 20 Tasty fish and stopped fishing)

PostCat I've fished in 5 tourneys and haven't seen a single rare fish, let alone come close to winning.

Okay. So your example shows you winning the tournament (gratz man, that's exactly what we're talking about and that has nothing to do with server population AT ALL). Moreover, lets pretend we can take you at your word. That means that you, as a single example, got rare fish (not Keefer's necessarily), in 3 tourneys back to back. Great, that puts you on the same luck level as maybe 3-4 other people (the only ones that come to mind are Shft, Drayner and that one guy on Shattered Hand). Now, lets take actual numbers into account. Lets look at 19s. Name a 19 server that had a 50%+ hat ratio. I can't think of any. Even realms like AD, CL, Arthas, BH all had a lot of hats only because most people there had been fishing for years. A good portion of twinks that fished didn't have hats (and having a hat was a big deal). Look at AP alone now. So many people have hats. Fish on a random day. See how many people get hats (I'll give you a hint, we have had 5-10 every week for the past 2 months). Bleeding Hollow easily hit 20+ people fishing for hats for a good portion of Wrath. I think we didn't have hats drop probably... 50-60% of the time, probably more.

Moreover, I want to show just how stupid you are in terms of commenting in this thread. Lets pretend that the drop rate has not been buffed at all. Like literally, everything remained the change. YOUR FUCKING EXAMPLE CONTRADICTS THE ESTABLISHED PREBC DROP RATE. I hope you feel stupid and stop posting in this thread now.

someone seems to be:

1. taking things a wee bit personally

2. so inflamed by what they're misreading that they're reduced to sounding like an arse.

I'm included in the "everyone" comment that i was responding to and i haven't seen the increased "drop rate".

and you're absolutely right, my example does utterly contradict the established prebc drop rate. my point is that the whole "eh, the drop rate to me feels like...." arguments are pointless.

Thanks for the shitty response for a legit question. for you information, ive been playing 19s for 3years with 3 lfh.

edit: the amount of fishings hat recently, doesnt mean the drop has increase. it means they got lucky with RNG, in fact it took me 2 goes at stv fishing contest for my rogue and over 38 for my paladin.

It is very much so available to F2Ps. For Horde and Half of the Casters/Healers on Alliance it is Best in Slot. Since we do not have access to BoA Helms it's a very valuable item to get and it's very noob-friendly to get.'

As far as "Half of a level 20s HP" no it is not. Lets take my armory of my lvl 20 for example:

I get a total of 92 Stamina(excluding enchantments/prof) from my gear. LFH has 15 stamina. So LFH makes up for 16.3% of the stamina that comes from my gear. If you manage to get LFH early on your F2P(before you get ur BoA gear or even most of ur dungeon/quest gear) then LFH would probably make up about 25-30% of ur Stamina from gear but it's not even close to 50%.

It was a huge pain fishing at 19 in STV, no flying, no passenger mounts, no summons. The number of casts made in 2hrs, especially on a PvP server like BH, would be pretty low. Compare that to the much easier fishing in Cat and AP being PvE and you can pretty easily see that the drop rate percentage doesn't need to be increased to explain the increased number of hats, the increased number of casts explains it just as well. Also, because so many people are fishing in AP, even after the tournament has been won, the respawn rate continues to be high, further increasing cast rate.

I did fish in vanilla, and I have also fished through every expansion, and the drop rate seems pretty similar to me. Some people get it right away, others take months. I find it difficult to believe someone fished every week for two whole hours for years and still didn't get it, but with RNG and low cast rate, anything is possible.

There are still people today taking months to get their hat. It took me seven tries, two hours each, to get the +5 line, just to put it in perspective. The three quest rares would have a similar drop rate. I also got two rares for the rare achievement in quick succession, and have never seen them before or since. That's RNG.

i have fished about 2,2k tastyfish, still no LFH

all the other rares tho, sometimes 2 on the same day

First, (this is not at you Kale) if you don't want stupid answers, don't ask stupid questions. A LITTLE bit of research would have answered this question (hey look if you armory pretty much ANYONE that posts on this thread you'll see a hat). Don't get mad at me for calling you stupid for saying something stupid.

Second, thanks Solvegero for again showing what an idiot you are. Don't worry, everyone else can see the difference in the argument, even if you can't.

Finally, @Kale - I'd agree to a certain extent except F2P don't get flying, passenger mounts or summons. I'm talking about it from a pure F2P standpoint. I did consider the PvP server aspect but there are two things about this to consider; first, BH, even as a P2P still only had 19s fishing and we had mains that we cleared mobs with. More so, Wild Shore doesn't really have that many mobs to aggro so it's about the same either way (especially after someone has already won the tournament). More importantly, the amount of F2P's fishing would nullify any advantage "number of casts" would give regardless. I'd say I still get the same amount of fish anyway. Yes, I do get a pool pretty consistently, but there's 4 people fishing each pool anyway. I have broken 200 fish once, and generally hit 100-150, and in classic/BC/Wrath I would break 150-200 pretty consistently if I fished diligently.

How many times have you fished in Cata. The drop rated wasn't changed in Wrath; I'd say it was changed in Cata. I've been on realms that were pretty much the same population of fishing as AP that didn't get anywhere near the amount of hats that AP does (we get 5-10 per Sunday).

Do we know any F2P's that have been fishing for months? The longest I know is Emoclown who fished for 8 weeks and it was considering ridiculous it took him that long.
