Best screen-recording/editing software.

I've got a highspec gaming setup and would eventually be recording my arenas (as an example) in HD/1080p if possible. I was wondering what the universally assumed top level screen recorder is? Please don't tell me fraps? I think i've used camtasia in the past. And for editing Sony Vegas?

I run Sony Vegas and Fraps most of the time. You could try alternative recording programs...

I use camtasia too, but for the experienced cutter, vegas > camtasia anyday.

Fraps for recording. Sony Vegas for basic editing, but for something to really stick out, try Adobe After Effects with Sony Vegas.
