Are mages even worth playing?

Serious question here no troll, i'm afraid if I make a mage ill be too squishy and just get focused down really quickly in like two seconds. So as the topic says are they worth playing? Someone give me some insight on the class before I spend a bunch of time on making one.

I'm not a mage expert at all, but I've seen mages do extremely well in this bracket. Mostly arcane, but frost sometimes as well. I'm sure there'd be many people willing to give you some tips if you're interested

A mage can be a powerful defensive tool when specced frost and a very good offensive tool when specced arcane. Both specs are viable and do very well. A mage played well is not very underpowered at all and can compete on par with most other classes.

Avoid solo battles and stay within a group. You will enjoy the class more if you are able to get casts off.

 

[Deadvulcano]

Mage is the "squishiest" class in this bracket. Any class, besides paladin, can be focused down in 2 seconds. Insight in sig.

Arcane is a complete faceroll and the only class with real burst in this bracket. Frost is just like it is in every other bracket. Fire is useless as always.

i loled having a pocket healer follow you around isnt a good display of skill.

well i guess opinion is opinion i cant change that though playing in a battleground doesnt make you the best though.

I was actually going to go arcane till I have BiS gear after that I was going to go frost.

BiS mages do pretty well. Junk geared mages are junk. Obviously the player controlling them has a big impact on their effectiveness, as does the group make up.
