Mage Professions

  • So, I'm looking to start a 70 mage, either arcane or frost. What would be the best professions for each one?

    Engineering - Jewelcrafting

That is what seems to be the best at the moment, duo to synapse - tazik, the engineering trinkets and the 3 jewelcrafting improved gems.

Personally I would say Herbalism and Engineering.

If you get tazik or springs thats really good. But even if you get the 240 haste on gloves, thats still pretty nice.

And if your frost, and you pop Icy Veins, The BT haste trinket "Skull of Guldan" and your Herbalism haste buff, and if you get the haste from engi as i said above, That's some pretty fast frostbolts

It will most likely go under GCD which means no damage increase..

I recommend alchemy: +40 intellect buff for arenas, and increased effect (+25-30%) on all the other flasks & potions you can create.

The Icy veins and Skull and engi work together.

It was not my point. The point is: stacking too much haste: cast time of FB under 1 second = no damage increase.

Although if OP is talking about a PVP situation, Then faster frostbolts without interrupts would mean "more" damage on said target.

i think its due to global cd, i may be wrong tho

and i was thinking eng/ tailoring too

Yep, cant reduce it under 1 Second, if memory serves. More haste could result in casts being under 1 second, ie; Frostbolt, but you would be unable to begin casting another spell until the GCD ends.
