The new Darkmoon Faire arrived on the PTR, and the Alternate Twinking (Level 1-9) Community unearthed some serious findings!

Lovestotwink talks of heirlooms you can get with the Darkmoon Faire tickets you win (only justice heirlooms, no honor heirlooms, judging by the screenshots in the thread). Chubs noted that the available replica gear, intended for transmogrification, has their original item levels. If you look at Chub's PTR link of all the replica gear and compare it with the grandfathered versions, only the grandfathered BoE gear has level requirements. The grandfathered BoP gear had no level requirements, and when Blizzard changed the replica versions from BoP to BoE, they left the newly-BoE replica gear without level requirements!

As posters in the thread noted (and as you might expect), it's unlikely this will make it live in its current form. When a level 1 can obtain a full set of level 60 gear with high armor and the ability to get WotLK enchantments, alert players will farm the Darkmoon Faire for gear, then destroy the lower levels of XP-on battlegrounds.

WotLK enchantments bring a lot of power -- some of the level 60 replica gear would become BiS all the way up through the 49 XP-off bracket. Therefore, Blizzard faces two options. They can either place level requirements on the replica gear that previously had no level requirements, or they can finally add level requirements to TBC and Wrath enchantments, similar to what they did for the chest enchantments. While the former seems more likely, at this stage we can only speculate.

The Darkmoon Faire in 4.3 may bring some unexpected changes to lower-bracket twinkers.

Update: Blizzard now placed level requirements on all replica gear.
