warlock-question concerning spec

Bengalosch

Legend
hi all,

i want to make a warlock (just to check out, if they really cant compete) and i am wondering, why every destruction-warlock seems to favor "bane" (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=17790#comments) over "shadow and flame" (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=17801).

why that?

i know that 0.5 sec-cast-time is a lot, but how heavy is the shadow-bolt-rotation of a fire-specced warlock? and how often do you really use immolate, considering its a dot, that runs over 15 secs? and isnt 12% dmg and 5% crit on all your main-spells (s&b boosts all "Incinerate spells" - that are all your fire-spells, no?) worth more?

if anyone could make that clear for me, i would be thankful...

The best to roll with is the one posted by CIHC (First one) otherwise you can try a Affliction Spec it's fun too
<

but isnt affliction almost useless for pvp because the dots take too long to eat the opponent?

In premade/arena Affli can be alot more viable 'cuz you can put alot more pressure without having to focus a target.

My next reroll: Demo FC yes/no?

If you think it could be viable you should go for Undead then or Belf and stack resil/Stam cuz you get like a 10 % Stam buff or so.

If you would go for a 2 man FCing so for 2 man Pugging you should go for the imp if its not a priest healer you wanna roll with
<
. But ya if its a disc priest or holy cuz of the blind kind of spell go for felguard then

So my highest crit I had was 686 unbuffed was luck in a mid defense situtation... but actually I guess if Cer goes on full dmg he'd beat it. ya but never saw it critting with Zerker just a little bit softer then Cer i guess then ( Was BiS...)

If you can rock one that hard unbuffed you could probably hit one harder. Cer has upwards of 25% crit though so less spell power. But there would be no point in not going crit gear as balance imo. So I'm gonna level mine and see whats good. After hallows end probably, and maybe after i farm a pet or two

I could give it a try if I'd still have my account Destro is also relying on a bit more crit then my warlock has/had.
<
and you should forget 30 % more dmg would be 891,8 so blizz would calculate it as 892 or 891 ... would be harder them Cer buz hes full crit not full Spellpower like u said.

@Affliction isn't totally useless, is it?

The answer to this question is no; its pretty much the original idea of running a 19 warlock back in Vanilla and TBC. DoT up as many people as you can, fear the ones that need to be feared and do your best to stay alive. However; with the new talent trees and everything else Cata has brought, a good thing with Destruction is that; even though you may have to take 2 seconds to cast something. That something could hit up too 600 - 700 damage if the right situation happened.

In all honesty; you'll never really get a good feel for a class unless you try out all the specs. Demo maybe one to avoid though; its really only good for stamina stacking and granted; can be useful, but at the same time, you lose either an extra DoT you get from going Affli or a 50% chance RNG stun from destro.

Even with the stam buff from Demo spec, if youre using Felguard you actually end up with less stam than Imp would give you, and it buffs your whole team.

Demo is worth trying but it is most likely the worst of the 3 specs.

I use Afflic but I think it and Destro are about equal, just a matter of preference and playstyle. Try them all and see what you like best, god knows you'll have plenty of time in WSG for testing.

soul fire actually hits for complete shit. it's pretty lame

affliction does good damage - the problem is not that you don't do enough damage, it's that heals at this level (and apparently at all levels) are just retardedly big now....so people can heal all of your dots waaaay too fast

destruction is the only decent spec at 20 because direct damage is the only thing that's ever gonna kill anybody. you're basically a mage that does less damage and doesn't have any snares or escape mechanisms
