Blizzard are introducing a new Blizzard Store companion pet, but this one can be traded in game. This means it can be bought for real world currency and then traded in game for gold.
This isn't quite the same as gold selling however since for a start it will not bring gold into the game, merely have the potential to move it about, and as more of them are bought its value in gold will decrease whilst its real monetary cost will remain static. This ultimately means it will very likely be substantially more expensive to buy gold using this method than through non legitimate means, i.e. gold sellers.
Anyway, this leads me to assume that this is pointing towards a paradigm shift in Blizzard's policies and may eventually lead to more frequent introductions of "services" that allow Blizzard to squeeze their cash cow harder. Thoughts?
