Joining horde AP community; what to bring?

I see the thread on where everyone hangs out, etc. Figured i wouldn't soil a sticky with questions that can fade over time.

I'm wanting to join the community that has been started on AP as a casual member looking to participate in random activities, premades, etc. from time to time. I don't have a lot of playtime, but am interested in the community aspect of the F2P activity on AP.

I have experience in a variety of brackets with a variety of classes, so feel that i could play any class at 20 with a decent level of competitiveness for casual grouping.

That said, for random premades, general fun with the horde, etc., which class is most needed?

Which guilds are actively open for new members?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

if your american lots of players will be on when you play.

play a class than you want/enjoy playing.

hunters are the easiest and best followed by pallys and rogues.

just dont do anything thats look downed on like gy farm and you should fit in fine.

trials cant join guild but we have a trial channel thingy addon that lets trials talk to each other(thanks yasueh)

I'll be moving to Australia next year. what are populations like in the wee hours?

I enjoy all classes, that's why i'm asking what would help the community =)

for horde, non-priest heals are always needed.

ok; how would you rank shaman, druid, pally as far as need?

(would also gear offspecs)

Paladins are kinda hard to take down, but with skill they can be beat.

Shamans do some good healing with their Surge, and can get away pretty easy with Earthbind Totem and GW.

I haven't seen a druid heal though.

Make sure to post drama threads on the forums daily.

Getting AGM should be your #1 priority. Start fretting about that publicly when possible.

Say anything that pops into your head in the chat channel. Ask about gear and especially questions that you could easily look up yourself. Also if you have thoughts about what other characters you want to make post your stream of consciousness.

Take screenshots of yourself getting camped and remember the names of any 24 twinks you come across, then post about them on the forums.

And be a bad warlock who discourages new players in the bracket.

You'll find me on at all hours (major sleep issues), and the least I've seen Horde side has been 5 people, so you should be able to simul-Q for BGs, maybe get some dungeon runs if you can find a P2P, or at least have a couple of people to chat to.

Class wise I'd say we actually need more priests at this point than shaman on Horde, as it seems everyone has a shaman (I've both, but I prefer the shaman as I've played priest for ages). We could probably do with a good druid FC, except it seems to be getting worse in WSG with 24s and GY farming, so it might be better to pick something that works well in AB.

All healing classes are playable, druid offers the greatest variety of things to do, you can always put together a set for the other two specs and play any role

Thanks for feedback!

To be clear, i'm not looking for info on what class people feel is most playable =)

looking for where there is need and people would enjoy having me bring the class to the table (Thanks Yasueh).

A little bit more about me.

My main since TBC has been a druid (focus on resto)

My mains in Vanilla were a priest/rogue

Have had twinks at 19,29,39,60,70

Have had partial twinks at 49,59,80

Only class that I have not really explored much is warlock, though I have one that I messed around on at low levels earlier this year.

Warlocks are the least viable class and aren't "needed" per se, although we definitely have a few active locks that do well in BGs. It seems like we're a little heavy on mages at the moment. If you've got druid experience and enjoy the playstyle, we probably could use another active feral.

Though what everyone is trying to express here is that we don't have any real need for anything, so even whimsical preferences on your part are worth pursuing over benefit to the community.

I have a level 1 project twink that has 6 of 12 on agm: this is a rogue. Level 1 twinking got boring with some of the changes so have stopped playing it and could bring it to 20.

have a mage already at 20 that i was just playing around with to see if I liked the bracket

have a hunter that i took through the goblin starting area to see what it looked like. played him a bit in bgs as well; he's 16 or something.

have a druid that i took through the worgen starting area to see what it looked like. would transfer him to horde if i was going to use him but he has no real gear, so might just re-roll although the quest head piece on ally is nice for feral so may do that then transfer if i was to pick druid.

rest would be start from scratch, but it's easy to get to 20 as everyone says, so not a big deal there.

Rogue is probably closest to being geared just because of the agm progress.

I probably wouldn't do a paladin. my most active twink for the last year has been a 19 paladin, so wouldn't move her up to 20 and would look to enjoy a diff playstyle at 20 then 19.

You'll want to get all 12/12 for the AGM before you transfer, as there's a lot of competition (and politics) to get one on AP.

as a p2p making a f2p is it bad form to switch factions with faction specific gear (such as the eyepatch)?

Some ppl say yes its bad form, because f2p doesn't have access to the gear on both sides. Other ppl say no its perfectly fine, its a perk you have for paying each month.

The vocal part of the community tends toward the don't faction change side.

you can always swap the gear out if you don't like the heat

Even more game-changing than using other faction's gear are the enchants available to p2p, as well as the guild reward heirlooms. Personally if I made a p2p, I would want two BiS sets: one that abides by f2p restrictions, and another that doesn't. When doing premades I would use f2p-compliant set, and on the occasion I'm placed into a random BG with lots of 24s on other side, I would swap in p2p set.
