Hunter Keybinds/Mouse Question...

Hey, I would like a little help, and please no derogatory remarks about hunters, please. This is a serious discussion.

I have this mouse:

...and I would like to hear some comments about the best way to utilize the buttons on it.

I will make some macro's, try to learn how to do mouseover shots, and use mouse-turning, but I would like some basic input on my mouse setup.

Buttons 1,4,7 & 10 are the easiest to reach with my thumb. 12 being the hardest. I also have the two 'page' button on the left hand side that I need to find a use for.

Any and all help or tips would be awesome. Thanks.

I'd suggest making 5 your 'home' key, putting your most used abilities on it, and then spreading everything else out around it.

For me that would be:

6 = Hunter's Mark / pet control macro (nomod to mark and set pet to attack, shift to call pet back, ctrl to heal pet, ctrl+shift to send pet to)

12 = Aspects

2 = Concussive

5 = Aimed/Explosive / Arcane / Serpents

8 = Steady

11 = Disengage

4 = Wing Clip / Raptor

10 = Macro to switch pet taunt on and off (handy in dungeons, when the tank dies)

That leaves the diagonals from 5 for potions/trinkets/bandages (make sure to 'lock them out' by requiring that shift be held to use them, to save blowing cooldowns).

Basically you move your thumb down from 6-4 as targets get closer/you progress through a fight, I try to keep it like that for every class so it doesn't get confusing. The 1-9 buttons you use with the tip of your thumb, and the 10-12 ones with the 'heel'. Stick the rubber thingies on the 5 and maybe 12 key. You get a feel for the buttons pretty fast if you actually play with one of these for a while. Too many people never buy one though becuse they never take the time after finding it hard to hit the buttons on the store model..

The page buttons I use for mount, as they're a PITA to use effectively at the same time as everything else, because I have to shift my whole hand around on the mouse to reach them.

Not using a gaming mouse like this, but I would recommend sticking every one of your instants on mouse buttons so as to never have to deal with moving fingers off WASD when trying to move.

Speaking as a hunter that kites clockwise strafing left 80% of the time.

Binding keys around the ASWD keys is the easiest like for example "F123§" "tab" etc etc

and if you have a mouse with more than 2 keys its always good binding those and also combinding the "f123" with Shift

that's atleast how i do.

Everything in this thread is useless.

All hunters backpeddle, and concusive shot. That is all you need to do.

Only thing I would add to Yas's guide is ctrl/mouse wheel up for target nearest enemy. Keep camera zoom on no mod MW.

Lol... I was gonna say bind everything to concshot and get friendly with the S button and you should cream people
<

I've unbinded the "S" key so im not backpeddling... and my concus is bounded to S key
<

inception huh?
<

"if you wonder why i've unbinded the S keyits becuase i played high ranked PVP arena in 85 and i needed the S key for binds

my only thought is that you're going to have problems with the numbers unless you have freakishly small carny-hands. If it were me, I'd bind the 1,3,10, and 12 and forget the rest of the numbers. Not only is the size of the buttons an issue, but I think you risk the chance of forgetting what's bound to where.

I personally would put defensive stuff on your thumb number pad: healing potion, heirloom trinket, AGM, that thing where hunters jump back, pet assist/special, holy potsetc, etc, etc.

offensive with left hand. defensive with right hand.

that's how i'd go anyway.

or dont take shortcuts, get good, and utilize what Razr has given you and be a god.(well, maybe)

I use the mousewheel for camera positioning, using the presets for the camera. That means I get no delay switching camera position.

nomod - normal zoom in/out

Shift+MWD - Camera position 1 (distance 5, pitch 15)

Shift+MWU - Camera position 2 (distance 15, pitch 20)

Ctrl+MWD - Camera position 3 (distance 30, pitch 30

Ctrl+MWU - Camera position 4 (distance 50, pitch 30)

Shift+Ctrl+MWU - Camera position 5 (distance 50, pitch 60)

Alt+MWU/D - Zoom minimap (very handy on a hunter with tracking, to switch between useful ranges for mid/flagroom)
