Mage pets

Havent had to play a class with a pet before. How do i macro his ranged nova to my keybinds?

Pet skills macro the same as normal skills, it is for this reason that they never share a name with a skill for the mage/hunter/warlock class.



You can either assign a keybind directly to the slot on your pet actionbar through the keybind interface (or through whatever bartender-like mod you use), or macro then directly using /cast Freeze (I think that's the name?).



Not sure if it's necessary anymore, but it used to be the case that mages/locks would get more damage out of their pets by macroing their pet's casted attack into their main nuke, triggering it during the lag dead space.



Also useful, if you're new to pet macros (?) are the commands



/petpassive

/petdefensive

/petfollow

/petautocasttoggle (spellname)

/petattack [@mouseover,harm,nodead][]

Yes im extremely new to pet macros so you were very helpful.



Noticed you were on ap too. Just finished basic gearing a mage named "Dath" something or other on that server.

Is there a command for the stop/move here toggles?

what this macro does, is if your water elemental isnt summoned, it summons it. but if your pet is summoned, it uses pet freeze.

As pinochet said you used to spam the pet attack abilities to increase pet dps (very common with imp.) This was fixed later in a patch... However, I'm not sure if this is still the case after blizz added some "spell queuing" code. I'll test this later, but I believe the automatic pet attack abilities should be properly "queued" now.



There are a few problems with mage pet movement speeds. But the summon cooldown is relatively fast enough that this is not often a problem.



The "MACRO" text below simply references the icon I used, use whatever icon you want.

-Interesting note on this one. The pet will not attack enemies that are immune, [url="http://www.wowhead.com/npc=3640]evolving ectoplasm[/url] in wc. You can use this to know when the mob has switched immunity away from frost.
